The Mid-American Conference will be eliminating conference tournaments for multiple sports and making adjustments to men’s and women’s basketball and volleyball beginning with the 2021 season.
The sports that will be losing conference tournaments will be baseball, softball, men’s and women’s soccer, men’s and women’s tennis, field hockey and men’s and women’s lacrosse.
Although men’s and women’s basketball will get to keep their MAC conference tournaments, significant changes are coming. The league will do away with the two-division format, increase the number of conferences games from 18 to 20 and eliminate first-round home games for the men’s and women’s conference tournaments.
