flcatamount said, "Once we get a vaccine readily available, things will return to normal." I don't believe a large number of people will even take the vacccine. whenever one is developed and approved. This whole pandemic crap has become so politicized that no one trusts anything that any "authority" says about it. And, long ago, we ceased believing anything the main stream media puts out. flcatamount said, "Going forward next year, we will all have to get our flu shots and COVID shots each year." No, we don't HAVE TO GET ANY SHOTS. We can be encouraged to take the flu shot or COVID shot, but not forced. Once people become convinced that it is beneficial to take the vaccine (whatever kind of vaccine it is), then they will take it. I did not mean we are forced to get a flu shot or Covid shot. I personally get a flu shot every year because I do not want to get the flu. For me it is a have to because I do not want to get the flu. I also agree that who knows if the Covid shot that is being forced through the system will be safe. I will probably not line up in the first group but I will eventually get the Covid vaccine. I do not believe the conspiracy theories around vaccines but this one is being pushed through so it is available before the election which is ashamed.

That being said, I get one every year. I got one on Monday and my arm still hurts. I got one last year and I got the flu anyway. I'll probably get the COVID vaccine, and who knows - I may get COVID anyway. As my wife says, "if God says it's your time to go, it's your time to go."

Western Carolina University adds 22 new COVID cases during first week of instruction
With the first week of the 2020-21 school year coming to its close, Western Carolina University has added 22 new active cases of COVID-19.
On Monday, Aug. 17, one new case was reported. The following Wednesday, Western Carolina would add seven active COVID-19 cases among its students, eight on Thursday, and another six were reported Friday.
These cases mark the beginning of a new wave of viral activity on campus after spread over the summer gained national attention from a New York Times article.
In a later email, Chancellor Brown would make the plea that “For this to work, you – the students – must do your part. Let me emphasize this point – students must absolutely and categorically adhere to the expectations and requirements of our Catamounts Care campaign,” a sentiment that left many students and faculty feeling sore at placing the blame of the inevitable on the backs of those the decisions of administration are ultimately responsible for.
While the cases continue to come in, many people, both on campus and off, worry about the reporting systems in place – specifically: are some student cases going uncounted?

Flu Shots: I have never had one and never had the flu. I have many friends who get them and they get sick all the time. One even died after he gone one. A flu shot or COVID-19 vaccine is a personal decision -- let's hope that if you don't get the vaccine that you are not banned from places. At any rate, if I were to take the vaccine, I would wait until I could see what happens to the people who are first in line... I have seen WWZ... As for the COVID-19 spike, they need to wear masks (to contain their germs if possible), avoid crowds and stay socially distant when in public. Period. Do it so we can watch some football. I don't know if it was your intention or not to give false impressions, but you did. Flu Shots are given with dead virus, not a live virus, you can not get the flu from taking the vaccine. There is literally hundreds of different flu strands each season, and obviously we can not be vaccinated for them all. They try to determine which strand(s) will be the most prominent, and they vaccinate against that strand. Obviously, one can take the flu vaccine, and still come down with the flu from a different strand of the flu that they were not vaccinated against. Let's face it, it's a crap shoot, but I prefer the odds with a flu shot. I have no idea about the COVID19 vaccine, but if you want to know more: The Top 5 COVID-19 Vaccine Candidates Explained
