Nexstar Broadcasting, Inc., Ingles Markets and the Southern Conference announced Wednesday that they will partner to broadcast 14 SoCon basketball games this season throughout the league’s six-state footprint across a network of Nexstar stations, beginning Jan. 2.
“We are very pleased to be partnering with Nexstar again to provide additional television exposure for men’s and women’s basketball in various Southeast television station markets,” SoCon Commissioner Jim Schaus said. “This coverage is very important to our member schools and conference overall.”
The “Ingles SoCon Game of the Week” broadcast package will include nine regular-season men’s games, beginning Saturday, Jan. 2, when UNC Greensboro hosts ETSU and concluding on Feb. 27 with a wildcard game that will be selected later.
The package also includes all four quarterfinal games of the men’s portion of the Ingles Southern Conference Basketball Championships presented by General Shale, as well as the women’s title game.
All of the games in the package will also air concurrently on either ESPN3 or ESPN+, and all 10 league schools will be featured at some point during the season.
Nexstar affiliates with the opportunity to air games are:
WCBD (Charleston),
WGHP (Greensboro/High Point),
WJHL (Johnson City),
WYCW (Greenville/Spartanburg/Asheville) and
WWCW (Lynchburg/Roanoke).
Although not a Nexstar station, WMUB (Macon), Mercer University Broadcasting, will also air select contests.
WSPA Sports Director Pete Yanity will provide play-by-play and Dean Keener will serve as analyst for the regular-season broadcasts.
