The Cats have three weekend series remaining, two at home and 1 on the road.
All three series are against Red Division teams - Mercer, Wofford, and the Citadel. We can win the Red division and assure a playoff spot. It would be helpful if the Citadel won some games vs. red division teams. Of course Wofford or Mercer could win it by winning out, as well.
Current standings in the red division
RED Wofford 14-7 SoCon, 26-16 Mercer 12-6 SoCon, 26-17 WCU 10-6 SoCon, 22-14 Citadel 3-17 SoCon, 11-28
-all remaining weekend series are within the division.
Mercer plays WCU, Citadel, Wofford Wofford plays Citadel, WCU, Mercer Citadel plays Wofford, Mercer, WCU WCU plays Mercer, Wofford, Citadel

Jerry you are correct as usual. However, i suggest the focus be on 6 wins. First, make the post season. WCU still controls their own destiny and that is all any team can ask for it sports. In the MLB teams look at the magic number of wins they need to make the post season down the stretch. For WCU the magic number is 6. ETSU can win out and still won't make the post season if WCU wins 6 more games (probably less because its unlike any contending team will win out). Winning the division etc. will take care of itself but the focus should be on 6 wins.
In practicality the seeding for WCU in the post season isn't that important ( I have my preferences who I prefer not to play first but this is for a different thread). The theme and focus going into next weekend should be 6 wins. Then going into the Wofford series it will be 3 wins hopefully less depending on how the other team fair.
Pack the stands, fence line, post a big sign with the number 6 next weekend and start the countdown!

We only have 6 conference games left - so winning 6 means we have to win every game we play. Mercer has 7 conference games left - if they win 5 we can't catch them even if we win out Wofford has 7 conference games left - it they win 3 we can't catch them even if we win out I get what you are saying in that since Wofford and Mercer play 3 games against each other there is a really good chance we can still grab 2nd place and make the tournament, but 6 wins means we win every conference game left on our schedule. It feels like we need to win 'em all! Attachment DeletedThe canceled games are really hurting us right now (assuming we would have won them).

Goal to win each series and that gives WCU 6 wins and in all probability will only need 3 or 4. No midweek game this week which is good, they are banged up, no excuses i'm sure other teams are banged up too, hope they have light work outs and the extra rest will be good for them.

I didn't major in math either, but we've actually got 9 conference games remaining. 3 series (3 games each series) against Mercer, Wofford, & The Citadel

My apologies - I posted the schedule directly from the SoCon site, but didn’t factor the double headers (only the dates) 😄
The schedules of the other teams actually show 3 game series and not 2 dates.

But the way that everyone is going to be beating up on everyone else, we could end up anywhere from 1st in our division to not even making the tournament.
We have played the fewest games (16) of anyone. Everyone else has played 18-21 games at this point.
We've got to win at least 5 of the 9 games. ETSU has 11 losses in the other division. If they win out and we only win 4 games, then we would have 11 losses also. They would have a higher winning percentage because of playing more games.
We control our own destiny... We win and we're in....

To clarify, does the top 4 overall or top 2 of each division make the tournament?

To clarify, does the top 4 overall or top 2 of each division make the tournament? Both divisional winners from the regular season qualify for the tournament. Then, the two teams with the next two best records or winning percentage after that will also qualify, regardless of division. The seeds will be done 1-through-4 based on the best winning percentages among those four teams that qualify.
