Wow - so “if it ended today” based on this, would the conference tourney be:
1. Wofford vs 4. WCU (put Wofford #1 with a better overall win % vs Samford) 2. Samford vs 3. Mercer
If true, seems like what we need to do to simply get in is stay in front of ETSU. Since we play Wofford and Mercer winning most of them gets us in AND increases our seed from the 4 spot. Anybody know what the tie-breaker for the #1 seed is if the teams have the same winning percentage? Jerry’s post says best winning percentage, but I didn’t know if that was just looking at conference games or overall.

Does anyone know where this information is posted? I looked on the SoCon website and did not find it. I always thought it was the top 2 from each division. Let's hope that's true and that even the 3rd place team on our side can make it if their win % is better than the 2nd place on the other side. That seems to be the most fair way. They should take the top 4 teams - period. Let's hope next year goes back to normal and everyone makes it.

I got it out of one of the baseball articles from the Catamount Website. I copied and pasted it, just as it was in the article.
I also went over the SoCon board and everything I could find about the tournament, and they have nothing about how the top four are selected, only that it's a 4 team tournament.
I assumed (possibly a mistake) the WCU website (ie Daniel Hooker) got its information from the SoCon. Maybe the SoCon is now taking lessons from the WCU athletic department about transparency.

So if both winners of each division and the two other teams with the best record or winning percentage no mater which division: These teams would qualify for the Southern Conference tournament : Samford 14-7 0.667 Wofford 14-7 0.667 Mercer 12-6 0.667 WCU 10-6 0.625 Right?

That is what I took from Jerry’s post, but seems like that was from the WCU site and the “official” information is not easy to find online. I hope it is true - seems like they should be looking for the 4 best teams if they are going to limit the field so severely.
