Our only bright spot this weekend is that Greensboro beat ETSU in a DH today.
We are 10-9 in the SoCon; ETSU is 10-13.

Coach Mo has done a terrible job when it comes to pitching. His best recruits were Zebby & the kid that broke his arm. He has absolutely no pitching depth on the team. I put a lot of this on his Pitching Coach for not developing the none weekend pitchers.

What if as someone has stated the coach is a micromanager and is preventing the pitching coach from doing his job because Coach Mo wont get the hell out of the way and let the pitching coach develop the pitchers and do his job!!!!!!!!

First of all let me say that I am not a fan of coach Mo. I do believe it would be hard pressed to fire a coach that was in first place in his division when all his weekend pitchers went down. You take all the weekend pitchers off any SoCon team and they would be hard pressed to win. I believe he should have been let go long before this year. Also, I'm not sure being in the tournament with no pitching would benefit Western either. Just my opinion.

Not playing midweek games at the end of the season is going to hurt. I realize that saving arms can be beneficial, but a midweek game would give some pitchers an opportunity to step up in a johnny wholestaff game where the pitchers can throw their bullpen live and still be available for the weekend with 2 arms out. After a beatdown like they just had, they need something to restore their confidence and keep their hitters fresh going into must win weekends to get in to the tournament. I likewise am not a fan of Moranda and his coaching philosophies, but losing 2 of your best arms makes it tough to win at any level. I would imagine with Mathews draft stock no matter how serious the injury I would not be pushing it to throw through any type of pain.
One of the caveats to make the arguement that there should be more pitching depth is that the COVID rules allowed the team to keep extra players that would have otherwise graduated, so if there was ever a year that depth shouldn't be a problem this would be the year. Not sure how many players that were able to stay on were pitchers, but it would be a valid argument.
Time will tell if the Cats will sack up and make a push for the tourney or lay down and play for next year. I think you will find out a lot about this team and Moranda in the next 2 series.
Sidenote: One of Moranda's coaching philosphies to his players was not to have TOB's (Transfers Of Blame). However, throughout his career he seems to show that the rule doesn't apply to him.....
Time for the Cats to get gritty at home and compete to make a run. Given the adversity that they face I think that's all that you can ask.

11, I agree that the Wofford series at home and CitDogs away series will tell a lot about this team... and their toughness.
We lost two of 3 to Wofford in Spartanburg but one loss was 6-5. If we could win 2 of 3 with backup starting pitching, it will be a huge accomplishment. Winning one would meet my expectation. Getting swept would disappoint me greatly.
We won both home games vs CitDogs with the third game cancelled due to weather. Even with lesser pitching, we should at least win 2 of 3. (They are 3-20 in SoCon play.) If we could sweep them, that would be great. If we lose 2 of 3. I will be disappointed. If we get swept, we will be wasting our time to go to the tournament on Greenville.
My opinion....

Here the way I see our path to the SoCon Tournament....IF ETSU splits their remaining six games with VMI and Samford, we will have to win two of our last six. It's going to be difficult to win one in the Wofford series...assuming our pitching situation remains the same as last weekend...so winning two of three In Charleston will probably be necessary. I'm assuming that ETSU will sweep VMI and be swept by Samford. But you know what happens when you assume...you make an a_ _ out of.... Then there is UNCG which might get the last spot with five wins in its series with Samford and VMI which is a long shot. Does all of that makes sense?

Retired... my "expectation" is that we will win one vs. Wofford and two vs. CitDogs. Launching from your expert analysis, if that works out, then we should hold onto the 4th tournament spot.
