For the final regular season three-game series, the Catamounts travel to Charleston to face the Citadel Bulldogs. Win two of three and the Cats are assured of a spot in the tournament. A schedule change by the Citadel now has the Cats and Dogs meeting on Thursday and Friday, May 20 & 21.

The Series: Western is currently 91-68 overall vs. the Bulldogs on the diamond. The Cats and Dogs first played in 1971, and the Cats are 32-40 vs. the Citadel in games played in Charleston and are 80-56 in only conference games vs. the Bulldogs. The Cats are 6-4 against the dogs in the last 10 games played.

The Bulldogs were picked to finish seventh in the preseason polls by both the head coaches and media and second baseman Tyler Corbitt was selected as a Preseason All-Southern Conference Second Team selection. The Citadel will play at South Carolina on Wednesday prior to the trip to Cullowhee.
The Bulldogs have been in a slump since 2013 and have gone without either a winning overall record or winning conference record since the 2013 season when they were 35-25 overall and 18-12 in the SoCon.
This season, the Bulldogs have only 4 conference wins, one against Mercer last Saturday, two vs. ETSU playing in Charleston, and one against Wofford. The Cats won three-straight over the Bulldogs stretching back to the 2019 SoCon Tournament and including two played in Cullowhee earlier this season. Both teams dropped 2-of-3 last weekend in division play.\
