not a big crowd for what was a very big game I was very surprised at the low turnout. I think if we can continue to improve next year, we will see crowds at the 11 to 12 thousand level. It used to be that we would get over 13000 for a Furman game. We have lost a lot of fans over the past several years because of mismanagement of the football program. There are good signs that those days may be coming to an end. We have hired the right coach. Now let’s give him the resources to build a winner.

SoCon attendance is a joke. ETSU does well and fill their stadium. WCU is typically second, and some teams should be ashamed. (UTC, Samford, Wofford) are all pitiful. Would love to see us Average about 12,000 which should be doable.

Another thing that will hurt WCU or even some P5 programs is the double edged sword of ESPN and ESPN+. Because while many of us (like me) will continue going to the games, there is nothing like actually being there, many who now find the convenience of ESPN or ESPN+ will continue to use it as opposed to showing up. ESPN is a double-edge sword in that now no matter what you can watch the Catamounts anywhere, work, on vacation at home etc and it don't cost that much (even if Disney spins ESPN off and they raise the cost) it will still be cheaper than season tickets and many will just stay home because they now can watch the Catamounts and even on a big screen 75 inch HDTV or bigger.

If we start winning and compete for the SoCon championship we will not have to worry about attendance. It will be SRO. Winning fixes everything and opens up wallets.

3 teams with losing records are the top 3 in attendance!

Kinda surprised at Mercer. They have generally been right up there with WCU in attendance at the top. Then this year they have a chance to win the conference, and they are middle of the pack. Saturday was telling - basically a playoff-type game with UTC and they had a very average crowd.

IMO, Mercer has always had a thumb on the scales when reporting their attendance at football especially, but basketball as well. Not sure why that haven't used that tactic this season.
