I spent an hour with some teens today discussing what it was like, and the ramifications of that day. I was surprised that several of them believe the fiction of "inside job" and plane didn't crash into the Pentagon. Where do they get that stuff?
Anyway - that day changed so many things in American life from the way we fly (remember we used to be able to wander anywhere in an airport whether we had a ticket or not?), to concern over our water and electric supply, to how police & fire respond to certain emergency calls. And for a long time, how we felt around certain individuals whom we thought looked like they could be terrorists.

I think most folks in Washington have forgotten.
If 9/11/2001 happened today, I believe we would probably respond by "sending them a strongly worded letter of warning".
