I think we are getting better. We won the 3 game series and had 2 good games. We were picked 3rd in the conference. It will be interesting to see how we do once we start playing conference games that count.

WCU has no pitching strategy. Corn should have never started this inning, and Moranda will not pull him. Game now tied, runners on 2d and 3rd. Tell me why you don’t want corn out there? Have we looked at pitching numbers this year? Once again understand the game of baseball. Everyone wants to be the coach. 2nd and 3rd no outs and gives up 1?? That’s what you want on the mound. Y’all think just pull a guy because he gives up a hit. Watch on tv or don’t.

I didn't realize that Western's pitching was so great, I guess that's why we are in next to last place in the current standings? But of course, I don't understand the game of baseball.

I don’t think the standings mean anything right now. Once we start conference play, we will see how we do in conference. To me, these are preseason games. We could win every game, and we would not get an at large bid. I think coach is doing the best he can. Sometimes you can leave a guy in and he can get out of a jam and sometimes he cannot. It is easy to second guess.

It is easy to second guess. You said that a lot about Speir at one time. Just because a coach is "doing the best he can", doesn't mean he is doing a good job. Are we respectable in baseball? yes Are we winning conference championships? no. Baseball and Track & Field used to be the shining lights of WCU athletics, now both are only competitive in the conference - but neither is now conference championship caliber programs. By the way, the SoCon used to regularly get at-large bids in baseball, back when WCU, the Citadel, and GSU were powerhouses in the SoCon.

We’ve only had 2 atlarge bids. 1994 and 2007. We were 45-15 in 1998 and didn’t get one. A year later they expanded the field.
