I hope your boys are doing great & I sure do miss you on here. Always remember that I thoroughly enjoyed watching your sons play for the Catamounts. Tell your lovely wife hello for me and your boys as well. Yes sir the boys are doing great. All are working big boy jobs now lol. Caleb is married to former WCU soccer player, Kasey Cooke now a Robinson. Caleb took over the head baseball coaching spot at Eastern Alamance and led them back to he playoffs for the first time in a while. Kasey finished and is working as a physical therapist and doing well. Luke is doing well at his job and just bought a house and moved out. Andrew is working for the city of High Point in the parks & rec department. He is engaged to former Catamount soccer player Sheridan Caudle. I look for them to set a date soon as she has moved back down this way and accepted a job in Clemons as a middle school teacher. My wife and I are patiently waiting for some grandkids lol and following wcu baseball. Hope you and yours are doing well too Jim! We wish you had some more sons ready to play baseball for the Cats, but we'll just have to wait on those grandkids!!! Please feel free to update us on your sons anytime, they're like family to the Cat fans...

So to start I’d like to say that I have sat and read this board for several years and I can say that the comments on here are the same year after year and I have sat back quiet until today. This forum is constantly negative. There is rarely a positive comment on the team wins, stats that are positive about a players performances or accomplishments. I’m unsure of what the intentions of this site are for?? Is it to state your opinion freely, to tear down coaches , scold those that don’t have the same opinion, or beat down players for an off performance?? To say that you don’t say things about players is a lie…you need to go back and look…you may not state a name or number of a player, but if you have watched the game then you most definitely know it’s specific! Whether you’re a parent, alumni or just a fan, this site, in my opinion should never be intended for slander against coaches or players. And yes, that’s what’s happening. If you say different then you’re just turning a blind eye. You can count on one hand the positive comments that come from this site. Super easy to say, you should do this, and why have you not done that….are you coaching at college level…or have you ever!?! So what makes you the expert?? Little confused?? These kids are out there putting their bodies and minds through hell to compete at this level, show some respect.

You bring out many good points, and I agree with a lot you posted, especially not enough positive is said about the teams and players. It seem most of those fans that are positive about the program, save their posts in a effort to hammer those that voice an opinion that a coaching change is needed, rather than post positively about the team or coaches. I've tried every season to post about every game and series, most games there is not a post to be read during the game about the team except for mine, especially if the team is doing well in a game. Hopefully you can become one of those positive voices...

Heck of a pitching performance by Mortenson today. Complete games are pretty rare these days.

Heck of a pitching performance by Mortenson today. Complete games are pretty rare these days. I think the team played very good today. When you have good pitching, things usually turn out very well. Today was the best performance by one of our pitchers this season. Mortenson showed great stamina, good control, and a lot of poise in defeating a good hitting Wofford Team. I’m also glad to see one of our pitchers throw a complete game. I would love to see Gabby perform the same hat trick tomorrow.

Hopefully you can become one of those positive voices... Jerry, you do not have to apologize to anyone on this board. Criticism of the Head Baseball Coach should be called out when he fails as a Coach. My God man, he is a paid employee of the University and should be held accountable just like the rest of the University Employees. I am not a pessimist & I don’t take the happy failure approach when writing on this board. You think these players are going through hell to play at the DI level, you need to talk to some of the young men in the military that are the same age of the players on this team. They will tell you what hell is like in combat. I think a lot of people on this board try to deal in reality & their comments correspond with what they are seeing on the field of play. We will leave the positive stats & the other things you mentioned about the players to Hooker & the rest of the SID’s Office. I have a lot of issues with Coach when it comes to recruiting, pitcher selection during a game, leaving pitchers in the game too long, letting games get out of hand before he makes changes, not putting bullpen pitchers warming up in the bullpen at the start of an inning in the last 3 innings of a game, leaving power hitters on the bench for most of the season, not developing his 2nd level pitchers, pitch selection by the pitching coach etc. I don’t know where you are coming from with your comments but some of the people you are criticizing are former Catamount Baseball Players. I do not look at the players as little buttercups that can not stand criticism but as young adults who are ball players for WCU & getting part of their tuition paid for by the Students of WCU. I respect your opinion but do you respect mine?
