The Cats will play in Game #2 of the SoCon Tournament on Wednesday - (the loser goes home)
Game 2 #6 Western Carolina vs. #7 VMI 7 p.m. on ESPN+
WCU record: 25-29-1 overall; 9-11-1 SoCon
VMI record: 16-39 overall; 6=15 SoCon
Conference streak:
WCU: lost 3
VMI: lost 5
The Cats took 2 of the 3 games in Lexington, the last weekend in April. The Cats won game 1 & 3, by scores of 7-6 and 8-5 (10 innings) respectively. The Keydets took game 2 by a score of 8-14.
So, this will not be a give-me game. If the Cats win, they will enter double elimination play on Thursday against Samford at 7 pm.

Western Carolina Athletics is scheduled to host a special pre-tournament Facebook LIVE event with Catamount head baseball coach Bobby Moranda on Monday, May 23, beginning at 11 a.m. on the WCU Athletics official Facebook page. A complete preview of WCU's journey to the 2022 SoCon Baseball Championship, as well as the official SoCon baseball postseason awards will be released on Tuesday, May 24.

Not good news for the Cats... if they win Wednesday morning, now they have to play twice on Wednesday The 2022 SoCon Baseball Championship schedule has been altered due to the threat of inclement weather in Greenville, South Carolina on Thursday. Four games now set for Wednesday. No. 5 seed ETSU will now take on No. 8 seed The Citadel at 9 a.m. Wednesday, up from the originally scheduled 3 p.m. slot. Sixth-seeded Western Carolina will face seventh-seeded VMI at 12:30 p.m. instead of the previously announced 7 p.m. game time. Both of those games are single elimination with the winners advancing into double-elimination bracket play later that day on Wednesday. The ETSU/The Citadel winner will face No. 4 seed UNCG at 4 p.m., followed by the WCU/VMI winner against No. 3 seed Samford at approximately 7:30 p.m.
