I know that you played at WCU baseball and know the program. If you feel that these two would not be good, I feel that you would know better than me who we should go after for our coach.
Please give some names that you think would be a great coach for us, and if they are former Catamounts players/coaches or are they people that have no former affiliation with WCU?

Alan Beck and Chris Moore shouldn't be in the same conversation in my opinion. With inside knowledge Chris Moore could care less about WCU and was fired at Ga Southern for not getting it done and Alan took over his job and they just hosted a regional. Alan Beck is the guy for the job! Relentless recruiter him and his wife Kim bleed purple and he wont be satisfied the guy is a winner and will do whatever it takes to get the Cats where they need to be.

I don’t care if the coach we get has never heard of WCU. I just want the best coach out there that we can get. How about another Jack Leggett type Coach? Bob Waters was the AD that hired Leggett and it was a genius move. Leggett was not well known and was unproven and look what he did. Steve White was on the Search Committee that brought Jack Leggett to WCU. He was an established coach at U of Vermont (the other Catamounts) with a winning record over 5 seasons. College baseball was just beginning to evolve into what it is today. Bill Haywood did a good job building the baseball program during his 12-13 years, however Western certainly had no great baseball history or tradition at that point. College baseball coaches at Western were also PE professors. Jack Leggett took our baseball to a totally different level. He has created one of the finest "coaching trees" in the country during his years at WCU and Clemson. Keith LeClair is on Leggett's tree and created a large branch of his own. Picking an excellent coach from that tree just makes sense to me. There are several candidates that are low-hanging fruit, in my opinion. I see a difference between someone with "ownership" in the program and someone who is just a "hired hand". That's my opinion and I'm sticking to it... I would also put Steve White on this committee. He is the most outstanding guy that I have been friends with since 1963. I would take any recommendation made by him to the bank. His decision would be in the best interest of the University.

Agree with your comment about recruiting. Alan demonstrated his recruiting ability when he was an Asst Coach at Western 2009-2015. He was the chief recruiter that brought (and developed) those who won the SoCon regular season championships 2013 & 2014. (I never understood how they swooned in the tournament, but they dominated in the regular season.) I do not agree with your negative assessment of Chris Moore, but you are entitled to your opinion.
