Western Carolina volleyball head coach Karen Glover today announced the signing of three additional student-athletes, Lydia Clark, Aviah Miller, and Maygan Garcia Miller for the upcoming 2022 season. The trio joins WCU's early signees Janelle Blue (Clover, S.C. / Clover HS) and Ali Morris (Knoxville, Tenn. / Grace Christian Academy) as roster additions for next season.
"These young women are great additions to our already talented roster," said Glover. "I can't wait for preseason training with our entire 2022 team. They are a great group of student-athletes and an even better group of people. This team is going to be exciting to watch!"
Lydia Clark – Setter – Evans, Ga. (Greenbrier HS / Magnum Volleyball Club / Upward Stars)
Clark is a setter from Evans, Ga. During her senior season at Greenbrier High School, she was a finalist for the volleyball player of the year honor at the Augusta (Ga.) Area High School Sports Awards presented by the Augusta Chronicle. Clark was also a first-team All-State and All-Region selection. She was a key part of a Greenbrier team that finished as the GHSA AAAAA state runner-up. As a junior, Clark earned a spot on the Augusta Chronicle honorable mention All-Area team. She concluded her career at Greenbrier as the school's all-time assists leader with 2,633. Clark played club volleyball for Magnum Volleyball Club and Upward Stars.
Aviah Miller – DS/OH – Marietta, Ga. (George Walton HS / A5 Volleyball Club)
Miller is a defensive specialist and outside hitter from Marietta, Ga., and attended George Walton High School. During her senior season, Miller was named the Most Valuable Player of the Georgia High School 7A State Championship and earned All-State and All-Region honors. The 2021 Lady Raiders took first in the Nike Tournament of Champions. Miller was a member of three state championship teams in 2018, 2019, and 2021, and won regional titles each season from 2018-2021. Additionally, Miller won the 2017 AAU All-American National Championship playing for A5 Volleyball Club and head coach Scott Cioffari.
Maygan Garcia Miller – MB – Hendersonville, Tenn. (Pope John Paul II Prep School / Alliance Volleyball Club)
Garcia Miller is a middle blocker from Hendersonville, Tenn., and attended Pope John Paul II Prep School. As a senior, she earned a spot on the DII-AA All-Region Team as well as a spot on the Main Street Preps All-Sumner County First Team. Additionally, Miller was named to the 2021 AVCA All-America Watch List. During her junior season, Miller was a second-team DII-AA All-Region honoree, DII-AA All-Tournament team, and Main Street Preps All-Sumner County Second Team selection. She played club volleyball for Alliance Volleyball Club and head coach Abbey West.
Western Carolina begins practice for the 2022 season in early August. WCU's 2022 volleyball schedule will be officially announced this summer ahead of the team reporting for fall camp.
