With Citadel's win over ETSU, the only thing I am now confident in is Wofford is last and everybody else can win pretty much any SoCon game. I see Furman getting somewhat dinged in various polls and rankings, but I actually thought they looked relatively decent on offense against a Clemson D that I think is one of the 2 or 3 best in the country. If I had to early-season rank them, I'd go:
1-UTC - 2-0 puts them on top 2-Mercer - lots of talent and balance with good O and D; decent showing against Auburn 3-Samford - based on their KSU win t4 - Furman - unknown until they play an FCS team and conference game this weekend (first 2 were against DII and P5); decent showing against Clemson t4 - WCU - can go up if Carlos is healthy and the D can be a middle of the pack unit; decent showing against Georgia Tech, but won't learn much against Presby 6 - VMI - don't really have a feel yet given the teams they have played, and probably still won't know after they play Cornell this weekend t7 - Citadel - very surprising win and they showed an ability to throw the ball for a TO team t7 - ETSU - still think they are a good football team but their coach may have some growing pains; if they played Citadel again this weekend I would pick the Bucs 9 - Wofford - can't move out of this spot until they win a game (they need to start with scoring at least a point)
