I am surprised you put us ahead of Furman and Samford. I feel that we have not won against anyone of substance. If we beat #22 Samford this week then i agree with us being #3

I am surprised you put us ahead of Furman and Samford. I feel that we have not won against anyone of substance. If we beat #22 Samford this week then i agree with us being #3 Samford finished the season (2021) in last place in the FCS in total defense. There has not been a lot of improvement in 2022, as they currently reside in 9th place (last) in the SoCon in total defense after 3 games, giving up an average of 428 yards per game. I just think we have a better team than both Samford and Furman.

Looking at the various polls, the SoCon has basically 4 teams in the top 26 (Furman seems to be right there as the highest ORV in multiple lists). Samford actually moved up a little in what I think most would say was not a great outing - they beat TTU 52-14 last year and I think they were 16-point favorites last Saturday.
That being said, it is hard to truly know how good or bad WCU is yet. We ended up blowing Presby’s doors off, but it was 7-7 at one point. We felt good about the play against GT, but they just got destroyed by Ole Miss and will probably be a 3 or 4 win team at best. All road wins are good wins, but I expect Furman to beat CSU badly this weekend and Campbell to do the same the following game. Our 14-point win will probably be the closest game CSU plays in what will be an 0-5 start.
The winner of the WCU/Samford game will in my opinion deserve to be ranked at 3-1. But at this stage they have a signature win and we don’t, so that is why they are getting love right now.
1- UTC - stays here until they lose 2 - Furman - I expected ETSU to play well coming off the loss and they couldn’t really do anything against the ‘Dins D 3 - Mercer - shutdown Citadel and look to be a physical team t4 - Samford and WCU - we’ll find out Saturday who should be ranked higher 6 - ETSU - I know they lost to Citadel, but still think the Bucs are better 7 - Citadel - played Mercer tough but will struggle in games they fall behind 8 - VMI - surprised by the Cornell game, but expect them to play better 9 - Wofford - finally scored; they will sneak-up on somebody
