Western Carolina track & field teams resume their indoor season this weekend at the Carolina Challenge hosted by the University of South Carolina The meet begins Friday at 10 a.m. with the open section finals in the women's weight throw, men's shot put, as well as the men's and women's long jump competitions. Track action starts at 10:30 a.m. with the distance events including sections of the men's 3,000-meter run before wrapping up with sections of the 4x400-meter relay around 9 p.m. Saturday's competition begins with the open final of the men's high jump and concludes with the top 12 teams in the men's and women's 4x400-meter relays. In addition to WCU and meet host South Carolina, Southern Conference foes The Citadel and Furman are scheduled to compete. The field also includes student-athletes from Allen, Anderson, Barton, Benedict, Claflin, Coastal Carolina, Coker, Coppin State, Davidson, Emory, Gardner-Webb, Georgia Southern, Georgia State, Howard, Limestone, Montreat, North Carolina A&T, North Greenville, Queens, South Carolina State, SCAD-Savannah, Southern Wesleyan, Tennessee, Troy, UNC Pembroke, Wake Forest, and Winthrop.
