The WCU women's golf team opens the spring portion of its 2022-23 spring schedule at the Oyster Shuck Match-Play tournament at the Charleston Municipal Golf Course Feb. 13-14. Eight teams will vie for the Oyster Shuck Match-Play tournament crown claimed by the Catamounts a season ago. In addition to WCU and the host Bulldogs, the field also includes UNCG and Samford from the Southern Conference, with Appalachian State (Sun Belt Conference), Delaware State (Northeast Conference), James Madison (Sun Belt Conference), and Radford (Big South Conference). Two squads – JMU (77) and WCU (83) – rank among the Top 100 in the latest GolfStat rankings and hold the top two seeds entering the event. WCU is slated to open the match-play tournament against seventh seed and archrival Appalachian State on Monday with the afternoon match to pair the Catamounts against either No. 3 seed UNCG or No. 6 seed Radford, depending upon the morning's results. The final match is scheduled for Tuesday morning. WCU finished ahead of the Mountaineers twice in the fall portion of the schedule.

The Catamounts stayed red hot winning its two matches on Monday at the 2023 Oyster Shuck Match Play event. WCU downed both Appalachian State and UNCG to advance to Tuesday's championship match against James Madison where WCU looks to defend its event crown from a season ago!  Western Carolina women's golf advanced to an all Purple & Gold final at the 2023 Oyster Shuck Match Play tournament by claiming a pair of matches on Monday to open the spring portion of its 2022-23 schedule. The Catamounts edged archrival Appalachian State by a score of 3.5-to-1.5 to open the event before cruising past Southern Conference foe UNCG 4.5-to-0.5 to move into Tuesday's final for a second-consecutive season. WCU faces chromatic foe James Madison in Tuesday's championship match at the par-72, 5,810 Charleston Municipal Golf Course. The Dukes disposed of a pair of Bulldogs in Monday's action, defeating event host The Citadel 5-0 and Samford 4.5-to-0.5 to advance to the final top pairing.
