Catamount Tennis opens conference play Wednesday at Furman.
NEWS & NOTES
-Western Carolina went 3-0 over the last week with home wins against Young Harris and Georgia State and a dramatic 4-3 win at Davidson Feb. 19.
-Freshman Madison Schwarz went 3-0 at No. 1 doubles and 2-1 in singles play in the three-match span.
-Fellow freshman Leilany Ipunesso clinched the match at Davidson, with the score tied 3-3, when she picked up a three set (6-4, 4-6, 6-2) victory at No. 4 singles.
-The Catamounts are looking for their first-ever victory against Furman. The Paladins are 36-0 against the Catamounts all-time.
-Furman is on a two-match winning streak with victories over Florida Atlantic and Yale last week.
-The Paladins have already dipped into SoCon play defeating UNCG 7-0 on Feb. 5.
