You know when your ball club is in trouble is when your #2 batter in the lineup is only hitting a cool 150.

Game #2 - first pitch at 12:10 pm Jerry, I’m starting to see why Coach Mo resigned last year. He knew this year would be a terrible year because he lost all his power hitters with the exception of the starting SS. He also lost the First Baseman, the 2nd Baseman, Left Fielder, Center Fielder, Right Fielder, and Catcher. He also lost all his top pitchers. In other words, Coach Beck was left with a baseball mess. Right now Coach Beck has a weak defensive ball club, a poor hitting team, and a weak pitching staff. This could be a very difficult year for Coach Beck. However, I wish him luck because he is going to need it. Coach Mo certainly didn't leave much behind. Beck will get his opportunity to recruit his players, which would be easier with some (many) upgrades to the stadium.

Just when we appeared to have one in the bag, Xavier puts up a six spot in the ninth for the sweep. Score now 16-12. Geez.

Guys I hate to say this, the Pitching Coach needed to stay at LR. His selection of starting pitchers has been terrible & he was not aggressive when pitchers needed to be removed from game. Western’s hitters have not been aggressive at the plate & they take too many strikes and get themselves in a hole. Based on what I’ve seen this weekend, the opposition Coach out coached WCU’s coaches in all three games. I liked the change at 1st base. The player from Sylvia is quicker, better fielder, and made a great catch to end the top of the 9th inning in right field. I guess my question is why has this kid been sitting on the bench?

Yes, we are missing a lot of players from last season, however it would not make any difference if they were all still in Cullowhee. The biggest problem, this year, is the same biggest problem of last year. Relief pitching, and no real closer. done deal, not going to win a lot without those two things, we didn't have them last season, and we certainly don't have them this season.

Jim when you have a Pitching Coach that alters Pitcher’s throwing motion and you wonder why these kids can’t throw strikes. He has all the pitcher throwing from the stretch with can reduce the velocity of the pitches. You are right about the starters & the closers. The Pitching Coach loves to call breaking pitches no matter what the count is. Thusly getting the pitchers in a hole with the hitters or causing a walk. It is difficult to watch how the pitchers are being handled. I feel sorry for the Head Coach.

Its easier for most to repeat delivery in stretch especially relivers. But dont agree with it with full time starter. Something obviously needs to start clicking soon hope
