Since ETSU eliminated some sports positions due to gender distribution at the school, I wanted to see how the SoCon stacked up in the male/female distribution. A high male population at the Citadel and VMI is a given, and only Wofford has a male population approaching 50%. The remainder of the school's male/female distribution is pretty much like that of ETSU.
Can we expect something similar from some of the other schools (Mercer, UNCG, & Samford at 67% female)?
-Compared to the US average of 56% female students at college and universities in the US...
The Citadel has a gender distribution of 86% male and 14% female
ETSU has a gender distribution of 39% male and 61% female
Furman has a gender distribution of 39% male and 61% female
Mercer has a gender distribution of 33% male and 67% female
UNCG has a gender distribution of 33% male and 67% female
Samford has a gender distribution of 33% male and 67% female
UT Chattanooga has a gender distribution of 41% male and 59% female
VMI has a gender distribution of 86% male and 14% female
Western has a gender distribution of 42% male and 58% female
Wofford has a gender distribution of 48% male and 52% female
