Pisgah High School graduate Dakota Sorrells achieved his dream of continuing his athletic career at the next level after signing onto the track and field team at Western Carolina University.
Sorrells will throw the shot-put with the Catamounts. He was already planning on attending the school but now will get the opportunity to compete as a Division-I athlete.
His coach at Pisgah, Danny Williamson, is familiar with the WCU program. He coached there for nearly 30 years.
“He’s stepping into a championship-caliber program,” Williamson said. “That’s one of the goals at Western: to be a championship team in the Southern Conference.”
