I assume you know that WCU's head women's gold coach - Courtney Gunter - has also left WCU for an assistant coach position at N.C. State.

We will always be a stepping stone for coaches because we refuse to grow athletics and pay what others pay. Now with the portal, we will always be a stepping stone for players who want to move up. I don’t like it, but that is Westerns lot in life. One day, we will be the largest FCS underfunded school in America with more than 20k students. I graduated in 1984 which was 40 years ago and we have not moved one iota to becoming better at athletics. In fact, in some sports we were more accomplished then than we are now. 40 years without any progress in athletics. That my friends is what piss poor leadership looks like.
