Man - every thread we have seems to morph into the same things being posted. I am all for everybody voicing their opinion, but can we just move it all to one place vs the same messages being posted to multiple places? Probably my ADD kicking in - but when I get on I try to hit as many of the threads that have new messages as I can, and for what feels like a week I just keep reading (and am guilty of replying to some) of basically the exact same messages. Apologies Jerry if that is stepping out of bounds, and maybe it is just me who would prefer to simply read about our new DC in the "New Defensive Coordinator" thread instead of all the transfer portal stuff

Point taken. I will not post on the subject again. Things are great and there is nothing to see here. Let’s focus on recruiting.
GO CATS!!!

I'll ask everyone to PLEASE remain on topic, and not turn every thread into doom and gloom over Kade's departure. Feel free to share your opinion, but please find the appropriate thread for that opinion, if there is not one, start a new thread and get if off your chest, every member is free to start new threads...
The student's athletes that have entered the portal would have entered EVEN if Kade was remaining at WCU. Crap happens, just like we've taken good athletes from DII programs, our good athletes are always subject to being taken by the big boys. Also, speaking of the big boys, just look at the big boys (Power 5 teams), and see how many players they lose each season to the portal, no one is immune...

Right now I can’t stand the Bells. They used Tusculum College as a feeder school for WCU. Now they are using WCU as a feeder school for Pitt. It is one thing for Players to enter the Portal but it is another thing for an X Coach to offer scholarships to existing players to follow him. I firmly believe that Cole will be heading north. If you are going to take a star receiver & running back, it makes more sense for Kade to grab the QB that makes his offense work. Remember the Bells brought in their previous & experienced QB to run their RPO offense in their first year in Cullowhee. All of this must be taking its toll on Kerwin Bell. It has to be having impact on recruiting & having to rebuild his program because his son is taking his key players. You can rest assured Kerwin will look after his son even if it hurts WCU & the success of the Football Program. You can forget SoCon Championships & playoffs appearances. Bell will not have a good year this coming year because of the turmoil created by Kade & the killer schedule next season. Pretty big generalization there and a wrong one at that.

I went and took a look at the Pitt roster to see how many guys they have returning at key positions like QB, RB, and WR. On the page, for each player there is a link to that player's Instagram account, their X account, and a "$" link that I have to assume is to the Pitt Panther collective - you have to register to be able to do any of that, but I have to assume once registered you could click on that and donate to their collective for that player. I have heard that Miami has taken it a step further and that you can donate to the collective AND they have links out to any places a player my have their own merchandise. WCU is never going to have a fund like a P5/ACC school does, and I know there was talk of a WCU collective. As FLCAT points out, I don't know how many people really know anything about it, and I'd guess fewer would know how to actually donate to it. But in today's world, WCU needs to have that in place and to make it public knowledge. OK, now I'm confused. I thought this thread was supposed to stay on topic about whether or not the "sky was falling"?
Regarding whether the sky is or is not falling, I agree with Admin and many others. NO, the sky is not falling because Kade left for PITT and we will lose players to the portal. Many other schools will have to deal with the same thing.

I think maybe Jerry moved this post. If not, something screwy happened because I was posting in the "NIL collectives" thread and now it is over here??? Maybe I screwed it up somehow, but that is where I thought I was when I made the post as I even referenced FLCAT's post. Apologies if I put it here by accident.

I was just joking around about the on topic stuff. I simply enjoy talking WCU sports. No apologies needed as far as I'm concerned. GO CATS!

Bell will not have a good year this coming year because of the turmoil created by Kade & the killer schedule next season. Players leaving with coaches have been going on for years, it's just easier now with this new incarnation of the transfer portal. While it might have been a seldom occurrence for Western, if you have success people take notice. and when you have the #1 offense in FCS, people definitely take notice. I also follow Marshall football, and I remember when Jim Donnan left Marshall in 1995 for the Georgia job, he took a hand full of key Marshall players with him. Also, the Marshall fan base is ready to cut ties with their current coach Charles Huff for various reasons, and Kerwin Bells name has come up numerous times on various forums as a coach Marshall should go after, and the criteria mentioned has been his ability to rebuild and his current success at Western. I would hope that Kade has a gentlemen's agreement not to poach his father’s players from Western, but in the end if a player wants to leave and you know you can win with a former player, the nice points might be out the window.
