I expect to win in the tournament, but it has been a great year for The Cats no matter what happens. I think we have a great chance to win the tournament. Even if we don’t, do you think we will go to another tournament.

I'd like to be optimistic and say I expect WCU to win the SoCon tournament, and I think they have a shot, but I'm not all that confident. I know the NIT changed things for the upcoming tournament - it's my understanding that the changes will make it harder for a team like WCU (NET ranking 118 as of yesterday) to get a bid to the NIT. Perhaps it's another CBI invitation...if the school is willing to pay up? It would be fun to win SOME sort of post SoCon season game, and I think they could be favored in a CBI first round game.

After we beat Furman on Saturday, we'll likely play Samford on Sunday Good. Got to beat them all. Samford will not beat a Justin Gray coached team 3 times in one year. I am more concerned at this point of who we play on Monday night. Who in the other bracket will be our victim on Monday night? I wish we could just jump to Monday. It is a foregone conclusion at this point.

I think (if I am not mistaken) those NIT changes are for next year. So this year there may be a chance, f we dont win the SoCon, but hopefully we win the SoCon and we will be a Cinderella in the NCAA . With all these changes that seem to cozy up with so called P5s (Major conferences), the changes to the NIT, proposed changes to the NCAA that may happen sooner rather than later that will again favor at large major conference teams, there needs to be another tournament for the so called mid major, there is the CBI and there was the now defunct CIT. But really, the NCAA should sanction a mid major tournament akin to the 1FCS playoffs for football, for those teams that dont make the NCAA or NIT under the new rules. IMO, they owe the mid majors that. Unless the proposed NCAA Tournament expansion allows for "all conferences" who has a regular season champion that does not win the tournament to be guaranteed a spot in the NCAA, there needs to be something to reward those teams too. The powers that be wont do that though and its sad because IMO a team that may win 20+ to 30 regular season games in a marathon of a season gets upset by say a team .500 or worse in a tournament and that team wins the sprint of a conference tournament of 4 or 5 games and they go on to the NCAA is just not fair to the regular season champions as they too deserve to play in a post season without a pay for play deal.

NIT would be great but I think we are peaking at the right time and have a great chance to win the tournament in Asheville. I know everyone is afraid of Samford but they have been beaten and we can beat them with the right game plan. We have the athletes to compete with them.
In my opinion, the NCAA will not sponsor a tourney for the mid-major teams because there is no money to make for the NCAA and we all know the NCAA is all about the money. They have never really cared about the student athlete experience at mid-major or FCS level because it is all about the money. The NCAA could do a lot to level the playing field for schools like us but there is no money to be had by doing that.

Being optimistic is great and like you I hope we can pull this off but remember we need to take it one game at a time and Furman will be ready to play as well......Prepare and take care of the team in front of you Saturday night and don't worry about Monday night until we get there...

You have to expect to win. We have momentum and I think the team is positive and I really believe that we are better than Furman this year. We have to play the game but I honestly believe that we will beat them. Agree that we should not be over confident, but we do need to go into the game expecting to win. If we don’t do that, we have already lost.
