The Power 4 want it all. Everybody is saying that the Power 4 might break away from then NCAA. I think The mid-majors along with D2 and D3 should break away from the NCAA. We don’t get anything out of the deal anyway. 95 percent of the money stays with the P4. Most mid-majors have to win their conference to even make the tournament where the ACC and Big Ten, etc. will get 8 teams in the tournament each. What does the NCAA do for schools like Western? The NCAA does not want us anyway. They are going to kill athletics at our level and below.

I almost hope that this happens and that the courts rule that all student athlete are employees of the schools they play for, because then I can do something else on Saturday afternoons in the fall and Wednesdays and Saturdays on the weekends in the winter, because there will quickly be no Western Carolina or Southern conference to worry about. Only the Uber rich public schools and some private schools will be able to afford to have college athletics and sponsor any kind of athletic scholarships. This will mean that all the kids that were before given a scholarship to play Mid major basketball or FCS football or D2 sports will no longer get that free education to set them up for life because only the elite athletes will qualify for athletic aid just so a few big a-hole schools and high paid coaches can have it all. This is what greed and avarice looks like.

Just think of all those young people across the country that will not get a college education, if student athletes are deemed college employees... I would guess almost all college athletics across the board would then go away.

Just think of all those young people across the country that will not get a college education, if student athletes are deemed college employees... I would guess almost all college athletics across the board would then go away. Big schools like most of the P5 can afford it, but we can’t and most mid-major basketball teams, FCs football schools, and D2 cannot. No way we can pay over 300 athletes minimum wage and if they unionize, it gets even worse. No way Western would field any teams if this happened. theathletic.com/5313992/2024/03/04/college-athletes-employees-dartmouth/#Congress needs to exclude college athletics from anti-trust laws to stop all this mess. This could happen. All that is needed is for one class action lawsuit that would go to the Supreme Court and then we are doomed.
