Believe what you want to about Richmond and Willian & Mary, BUT I was in meetings with some of their administrators during this time, personally knew their media relations people and worked with a couple sports writers from Richmond and Norfolk...they said that Richmond and William & Mary only wanted to play Virginia Tech, VMI, Virginia, maybe the service academies and Eastern privates. They voted against admitting ECU and App State and wanted no part of playing Marshall, Chattanooga and WCU.
