after the comments made here i am worried they are not going to allow fans in Sounds like it to me too. Who knows? Daniel said the people who will decide have special knowledge the rest of us don’t have. I can’t imagine what that knowledge is but I guess it could be. Since Jackson County is in good shape, I am going to be optimistic and hope that logic will prevail and we can get back to normal. Western has always worried about appearances so that probably has a lot to do with what is going on. If ETSU can have fans, we should be able to.

The Citadel head coach said, "To my knowledge, there will NOT be any fans in the stadium"
I wonder of if Hook was blowing smoke about a decision not being made yet? That coach didn't make that up on his own.

That coach didn't make that up on his own. If we do not have fans again, I hope we get a specific explanation that makes sense. None of this that we have to protect the community from themselves. I am sure they could summarize the discussion instead of they don’t want us using the resources and we are protecting people from themselves BS that we have been hearing. Of course, these people have “special knowledge” the rest of us don’t have. Also, you can have fans at the women’s soccer games but not at the men’s football games. That makes sense NOT. Must be the special knowledge the rest of us don’t have. lol. ETSU got it right. Don’t expect to be leveled with because we obviously can’t handle the truth.

I honestly think the decision was made yesterday when the show aired but Hook is trying to do PR for everyone. He said four or five times that it was not decided yet and coach didn't even flinch when he kept saying it. I think he knows the news already as well.

The Jackson County Chamber of Commerce is begging people to come and visit Cashiers, Dillsboro and Sylva. There's a festival in Cashiers this weekend. If the school says no then is against what the other towns are doing.

If the school says no then is against what the other towns are doing. I truly hope they lead with what’s best for the school and community this week. There will be a lot of negative PR if we don’t have the game with butts in the seats on Saturday.

I was in Sylva last weekend for my son's bachelor party. He wanted to go to the mountains with his friends and play golf, go the the casino and sit around a bon fires and smoke cigars, drink bourbon and tell stories. We were nervous because of the storm damage, and we had no idea how bad it would be. But, since we were unable to get a refund, all 13 of us decided to go.................. and we had a blast! Now, I want to be respectful of the folks in Waynesville, Maggie Valley and especially Asheville, as we have heard some catastrophic stories. We did donate both food and finances to the region. But the point of this post is that we saw no damage anywhere near Cullowhee.
Our cabin was behind Sylva, on the "Tuck." The roads were fine, and the cabin had water, power and WIFI. Ingles had everything we needed (Fire wood, Ice, Beer, Steaks, Snacks, Waters etc...). We played golf in Cherokee and the course was perfect, with no cart restrictions. We hit Innovations Brewery for an amazing burger, and every gas station had plenty of gas. We also went to the casino and it had zero damage, and every ATM was working. That's why we were so confused & angry, that we were not allowed to attend the football game. Interestingly, everyone else was ecstatic to see us. In fact, the Frontier Pancake House in Cherokee, hugged everyone of us as we were leaving, and they thanked us profusely for coming.
I have had numerous frustrations with WCU since my last season in 1987: Lack of winning, lack of resources, lack of commitment to winning, the way they handled COVID and a desire to seemingly consistently reward mediocrity! Nonetheless, I have continued to support the program with money, time and service on certain Boards. In fact, many of my ex teammates make fun of my allegiance / participation in the Cat Club. However, given the way the administration handled this, especially when compared to ETSU, I am guessing my Cat Club days will be coming to an end after this year.
I am continually grateful for the kindness I have always been shown from folks at WCU (and this board). I hope everyone stays safe!
