"A need for some quick cash may have been the motive for a Western Carolina University student to rob the State Employees Credit Union near campus at gunpoint Wednesday. 21-year-old Brian Edwards remains behind bars in Jackson County charged with armed robbery. Fellow students say he was a nice guy but under a lot of financial stress trying to pay his bills. Friends say he was strapped for money and was being evicted from his apartment. Edwards remains in jail on a 250 thousand dollar bond. He’s charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon, and possession of stolen goods. A probable cause hearing is scheduled for December 20th." www.wlos.com/shared/newsroom/top_stories/videos/wlos_vid_6212.shtmlOne thing for sure, he won't have to worry about being evicted from his next apartment. The state of NC will take care of his housing and food requirements.
