Q and A with 2013 Western Carolina Commit: Ryan Arington (Cincinnati Christian HS) PBR: Why did you choose Western Carolina?Arington: The Western Carolina staff identified me very early on and I had an opportunity to visit their staff and campus on four different occasions. Each time there I felt really comfortable. Their coaching staff are outstanding communicators and the campus and facilities are great. PBR: What other schools were you considering?Arington: Kentucky, Michigan State and Xavier. Each of those schools are phenomenal in their own right and all have outstanding programs. PBR: You have made your commitment very early. Why did you chose to make your decision so soon and are you finished with the recruiting process?Arington: I really felt a personal connection with Coach Moranda and Coach Beck at WCU. I felt like they really want the best for me as much off the field as on the field. My Dad and myself did a lot of work this past fall in visiting schools and meeting the respective staffs. In the end I felt that going to WCU is the best choice for me personally and I don't see that changing. read more here

This young man still has one more year in HS. Lots of folks will be putting pressure on him to change his mind over the next 13-14 months.

Q and A with 2013 Western Carolina Commit: Matt Smith Matt Smith, OF/LHP, Fredericktown HS, Class of 2013 PBR: Why did you choose Western Carolina? Smith: I chose Western Carolina because it's in the SoCon and the level of baseball competition they are playing is very high. I also felt like the coaches were very good and they were going to be able to give me the best shot at the next level. I felt at home at the school because it's a small community just like the one I'm from and they all support the baseball team. PBR: What other schools were you considering? Smith: Dayton, EKU, OU, Akron, OSU, and CMU PBR: Where did the WCU coaches first see you? How did your relationship develop with them? Smith: They first saw me at the PBR Top Prospects Games, they emailed me right after and said they wanted me at their school and we continued to stay in contact and they made me feel like I was very important to their program and would help them a lot. more: www.prepbaseballreport.com/news/OH/Q-and-A-with-2013-Western-Carolina-Commit-Matt-Smith-Fredericktown-HS-1562970348

For the past numbers of years, Furman has had the locks on Ohio players as far as SoCon schools is concerned. I guess because of Head Coach Ron Smith's Ohio roots.
But this is our second 2013 commitment out of Ohio. We just keep filling the pipeline. That's what it takes to win championships.
