Cats only picked up one run in the top of the 9th, if Hatcher can get the side out, it'll be extra innings. Score 6-6, bottom of the 9th.

Does anyone have any idea why Morgan McKinney is not pitching today?
The bottom of the 10th will be Hatch's 3rd inning. He doesn't need to go any more than that.
If we're going to win this game, somebody's got to pitch the bottom of the 11th also.

Cats lose in the bottom of the 10th. They load the bases, then a hit the batter, advancing a run to home plate.
Final, 7-6.

One thing about it, so far this weekend, we've enabled two teams to get their first win of the season, and enabled another team to get their second win of the season. I guess the Cats have a future this year of padding the win column of other teams.

The ONLY WCU team coming through so far this year (2012-13) is the Women's Track and Field team. Congratulations on the SoCon Indoor Track and Field Championship.

Runners on 1st and 3rd with 2 out. Batter at the plate is 0-3 today. He is intentionally walked to get to a guy who is 2-4 today.
Not sure I understand that logic. Setting up a force at any base is a slight advantage, but it also leaves you with no margin for error. Looking at the batters involved... and what they had done today... I've got to question that decision.

I was at all the games this weekend and it goes deeper than you think. You are correct in than it does not make sense to walk a guy who is 0 for 3. It also does not make sense early in the game when you have White and Hoyle on base in the 3rd inning tie game and no outs and you have one of your power hitters in Martin up to bat and have him bunt. Martin did as he was instructed and layed down a good bunt but it makes no sense at all to do that at that point in the game. It also makes no sense to pitch Hatcher as much as we do. We have 20 guys on the roster listed as pitchers. We need to use them all.
For you naysayers I have been reading your posts, let me say this, Until you come and see the games and know the situations, it would be useless to spout off without having the facts. Yes, we had 7 errors against Michigan State and looked bad but we got a great pitching outing from Null. In the 2nd game, the Umpires took center stage after saying Spiess left early when video from the game clearly shows he actually left late. In my opinion that changed the momentum of the game. We hit the ball against Miami but right at people and could not get any to fall in. It happens. By the way Maimi (Ohio) beat Michigan State earlier today, not a bad team. In the night cap as I mentioned before there was some poor game management. Also, the umpires once again took the spot light by not being in position to make crucial calls. Oh yeah, and not once but twice the Cincy player leaned into the pitch and got away with it the 2nd time for the game winning run.
There is talent on this team. These kids play hard but have no control over the game decisions that are made. They do what they are told.
McKinney had a sore shoulder and Neary was banged up is the reason they didn't play. Ridings had a stomach bug yesterday and had to have IV's to be able to play today.
Folks, its early and these are non-conference games, no need to panic now. Suport your WCU Baseball team. Go Cats.
