With College of Charleston set to join the Colonial Athletic Association in 2013-14, Citadel baseball coach Fred Jordan said the Southern Conference will play with 10 teams in 2014, with all 10 teams making the SoCon Tournament. Jordan said the 2014 tournament — at Riley Park — will be a 10-team tournament patterned on last year’s 10-team SEC tournament. That bracket is here. It amounts to two five-team tournaments over a six-day span, with the winners meeting in a single-game championship game. blog.postandcourier.com/bulldog-bites/2013/02/19/cofc-gone-socon-sec-baseball-tourney-format-2014/

That's basically what the SoCon uses right now except with 8 teams. I'm sure all of the private schools love that 10 team format because now they know they are going to tourney. Once GSU and App St leave the SoCon will be a lower tier mid-major conference. And days of sending 3 teams to the NCAA tourney will be over more than likely. This probably be last year of having shot at 3 teams and we should be one of those 3 teams. However we will have to worry about just making SoCon tourney if don't start playing ball.
