If this were to happen, I think that WCU might be high on their cut list.
They certainly won't close any historically black schools, there is almost no political clout in the legislature from WNC, and WCU is a duplicate of ASU only smaller. I'd say there would be a big bulls eye on WCU if it comes to eliminating a university or two.

I wouldn't mind seeing the UNCA programs brought under the umbrella of WCU. However, they said they were looking to eliminate duplication of programs, and since UNCA is the only public liberal arts college, that might in itself save them.

I posted the link to show that there are other schools besides ours. Watch, it won't be us. Oh and Western, I chose WCU over NC State. Serious reasons for it! (Appy wasn't even considered a choice )
