Hey! We've won series vs CofC and now The Citadel. Not bad! Should have swept both of those series. We're still not playing like we really mean business.

The family met in Pigeon Forge for a 3 day weekend so I decided after one day of shopping to take a break and let the wife and daughters have at it. My son and myself decided to take in the DH at Western. Game 1 was exciting. Game 2 turned into a bush league brawl. Smith and McKinny are quality guys and in my opinion should see play at the next level, the White kid can really swing it and plays with lot of class. I was really disappointed.............

Are you a WCU alumni or just a fan that decided to drive over the mtn and catch a baseball game? And saw this play and decided you better find the WCU forum to tell everyone how embarrassing WCU was on Saturday?
After reading your post i think it will be accurate to say you have never watched the Citadel or WCU play. It would also be a pretty safe assumption that Stokes said something or did something to get that type of reaction from Neary.

I have been following WCU sports since my God Child went and graduated from there several years ago. I have been to most major WCU sports events football, basketball and baseball and have been following online listening to broadcast and watching the video when I get a chance, even football. No my life doesn't revolve around WCU sports but I follow several colleges with which I have personal ties, either a relative or former player went or currently attends. However baseball is my love since I played up through college. I didn't have the size and to be truthful the skills to play at the next level. However I have been able to repay the game by using my experience and knowledge to coach and instruct players of all ages. So to answer your question yes I believe I have watched WCU and the Citadel at least 2 games before this weekend over the years. I recently found this forum and have enjoyed reading it and several others so no; I didn't "find the WCU forum to tell everyone how embarrassing WCU was on Saturday". For the most part the team played the game as it should be played with hustle and effort. ........ The team reacted as almost all teams would but showed class by exercising restraint. I don't know exactly what happened when the game ended but I saw several Citadel players making obscene gestures at the WCU bench, which in my opinion is the lowest class of bush, they lost the series and showed their collective butts so not all of the "embarrassment" rest with WCU.

Snowman, I don't necessarily disagree with your comments however I think it is in poor taste to call a player out on the forum. I believe that it's ok to compliment a player by name, but to call them out by name is as you call it bush. My son plays on the team and I know I would be very perturbed (Chuck Norris perturbed). If he screwed up not only would he know but everyone on the team and in the stands would also. He wouldn't need a forum jockey to point it out. I might not agree with every decision of the coaching staff but I do support them and hope that they will take care of the team and make sure that they play the game the right way.

Very curious why it is in poor taste to mention a student athletes name on a forum when said athlete misbehaves or represents the team, school or at times the state with poor sportsmanship. So it is alright to name names when student athlete performs/plays well, but do not mention the fact when one does poorly or shows his/her a—to a coach, crowd or stadium. If a person wants to have the public eye by playing in sports or representing a university, then one should accept the fact that fans, supporters, and press are going to have opinions about sportsmanship, and demeanor of said student.

Thank you for your post. Not only is it in poor taste, it also violates the terms of service (TOS) of this board. I do welcome all posters, and don't want to inhibit anyone from posting their thoughts, but this is a WCU fan forum. I'm sure if there is legitimate criticism of athletes, it should be directed to the coach, each coach's email address can be found on the athletic web site. Again, I don't want to limit posting, but our student athletes should be off limits.

I agree, our athletes need to be held at a higher standard. If one chooses to lose their demeanor they need to accept the the school, SoCon, and alumni giving their feedback.

I would tell you what I think but someone may threaten to go "Chuck Norris" on me. I guess these guys are, or believe that they are, above criticism. Which, in itself, may explain why this team is under-performing...Silly me. I thought college was a time when you grew up and learned to take responsibility for your own actions, take criticism and learn from it.
