This is why Furman is going to be tough and get tougher.
Great new facility with indoor training and VIDEO ANALYSIS for hitters and pitchers. If you were a recruit where would you go?

We have the worst facilities in the SOCON. Tradition can only get your recruiting ambition so far. WCU is on the brink of loosing our status as a good program when our boys can't even get a locker room at the stadium. They have to use basketball's locker room and then if you have to use the bathroom during the game the players have to use the public restrooms, that is pathetic. Football wins a game a year (if they are lucky) and they get new unis, new weight room, new field, and a new jumbotron. Baseball's scoreboard doesn't even work all the time ( i don't know how much new bulbs cost but my goodness can we replace the burnt ones). Baseball needs new unis for first time in 3 years? Hey player fundraise yourself for them. Baseball stadium needs renovations? Baseball players you guys will be laying bricks for 2 months. Absolutely pathetic support from our athletic department and if we continue in this way we are going to pay for it. When we finally dumped deadwood chip smith I was excited to see some new ideas and excitement from the athletic department. 2 years later and we are falling further behind.

I'm sure that better facilities will fix this team Track and Field has worse but competes for championships.

I'm sure that better facilities will fix this team Track and Field has worse but competes for championships. nowhere in that post did I say our facilities are the reason we are struggling this year. Will we continue to be able to compete for future SOCON championships without doing anything to address our shortcomings in our facilities? Track and field wins championships because of Danny Williamson. He is the best T&F coach in the southeast. He is one of the lowest paid coaches on campus, one of the lowest paid T&F coaches in the conference let alone the country. He gets courted by SEC and ACC schools every year but stays at WCU because of loyalty to this school that we do not reciprocate to him. Danny Williamson wins championships because he is a great coach. Bobby Moranda is skipper right now so I support him but he is not in the same conversation as Danny. Danny wins championships in spite of the support we show him. If he leaves for a better paying and higher profile job, as he fully deserves, I wonder if you think that T&F will be able to put banners up. UNCG has one of the worst baseball programs in the conference historically but in the past 6 years they have got a new scoreboard with a video board and new field house with locker rooms, player lounge, training room, and offices. Furman have done what you see above. GSU's stadium is 7 years old has locker room, offices, training facilities, hell it even has an umpires locker room. We don't have a locker room within an 1/8th of a mile of the stadium. I apologize for commenting about facilities rather than the game this weekend but I was just replying to the video posted above. If you truly think that our facilities will have no bearing on future recruiting and thus the teams we will be able to field then you must know something I do not sir.

Last year Furman opened a new baseball facility, this year they are going to cut baseball scholarships.
I wonder what's up at Furman?
