Following from the Royals' website:
Greg Holland is one of two KC players who are still unsigned and eligible for arbitration. Greg is asking for $5.2 million and the Royals have offered $4.1 million; he earned $539,500 last year.
What are the possible outcomes?
(a) KC and Greg agree on a salary figure BEFORE the arbitration date. Presumably, the $$ amount would be somewhere in between the two figures that have been put on the table. They could agree to a contract of any length also.
(b) They actually go before an arbitrator who listens to the case presented by both sides and compares Greg's last season stats with other closers and compares the salaries of those other closers with the $$ figures on the table. The arbitrator awards Gred either $5.2 million or $4.1 million for the upcoming season. Nothing in between. That $$ amount would apply only for the 2014 season, unless the two parties agree to a longer term contract.
Conclusion: A Catamount who has achieved great success! Congratulations, Greg Holland!

Success is sweet and rewarding ($$$$)
Maybe he'll foot the bill for a new club house for the team. That would be nice.

Wouldn't that be sweet? Hope he makes a mint and sends a chunk back to Cullowhee.
We've got some guys on the current team that have the potential to make (and be successful in) the Big League.
