Western Carolina's Tayla Carter has been named the Southern Conference's Track Athlete of the Week after a stellar performance at the Southern Miss Cupid Classic.
Carter was the top finisher in the 60-meter and 200-meter at the Southern Miss Cupid Classic over the weekend. Carter ran the 60-meter in a time of 7.51 in the final heat and finished the 200-meter in 24.28. Her 200-meter time set a new Western Carolina record, breaking her previous record of 24.50. Carter also anchored the WCU 4x400-meter relay team, which clocked a season-best time of 3:47.11.
