Cats win game 1 by a final score of 5-4. That was too close for comfort.

Much too close. Back-to-back homers surrendered on consecutive pitches in the 8th inning was nearly a killer. Furman sent 3 out of the yard in the game but, thankfully, they were all solo shots.
Furman Head Coach and one of today's home run hitters were thrown out of the game, so they can't participate in tomorrow's game. Did anyone watch the game in person or on the All-Access video? Was the umpiring as bad as the Furman radio announcer said it was?

Was the umpiring as bad as the Furman radio announcer said it was? I watched it on streaming video, and listened to the Furman feed. From the camera angle, it's difficult to tell the balls and strikes, unless they are really outside or high, but if the calls were bad, they were consistently bad for both teams. I certainly couldn't tell the home plate ump favored one team over the other. If I was a head coach and going to get thrown out of a game, I certainly would not get thrown out over a check swing that didn't go my way. I also didn't realize you could get tossed after the game was completed.

I'm sorry, but when you commit 4 errors during a game, you don't deserve to win.

We certainly need a closer.
I don't understand how the guys lose to a team on a 7 game losing streak and a team that had now won in Cullowhee since 2008. It seems as though this team like the basketball team can not handle too much success.

The rubber match is today, with a lot on the line. Until yesterday, the Paladins had not even won a game in Cullowhee since 2008, much less won a series. We need to win today to maintain our position at the top of the SoCon, fortunately, Davidson lost to Samford yesterday as well, so we did not lose any ground to the Wildcats. Once again, there is no Catamount Sport Network coverage of Sunday's game. There is live video, but without sound, and it's impossible to get the Furman audio feed in synch with the video. No coverage would be better than live video without sound, very bush league. I don't know who's idea that was, but it was a poor one, and reflects poorly on the university. Sunday: WCU - Jordan Smith, RHP (5-2, 3.71 ERA) Furman - Tyler Wood, RHP (2-1, 7.25 ERA)
