Western Carolina returns home for a three-game Southern Conference series against the Furman Paladins this weekend.
Game one is scheduled for 5:00 pm on Friday evening with a special 4:00 pm first pitch on Saturday, preceded by a special Baseball BBQ at 3:00 pm following the football Spring Game, presented by Wells Fargo. The baseball series finale is scheduled for 1:00 pm on Sunday afternoon.
Furman comes to Cullowhee riding a 6 game losing streak. The Paladins are 11-22 overall, and 2-7 in SoCon play. Furman was single game conference wins against both UNCG and Samford. Furman is 5-8 in road games and is paced at the plate by senior shortstop Hunter Burton (.328, 0 HR, 10 RBI), who leads the SoCon in stolen bases (26-of-31), and junior third baseman Chris Ohmstede (.323, 3 HR, 19 RBI), who hit a grand slam off Null in last year's game in Greenville.
