Obviously, what we do in Cullowhee on Thursday and Friday will determine if we are #1 seed or #2 seed for the tournament.
But some things are known (or 90+% assured) at this time.
Samford will be #3 seed. GSU will be #4 seed. E-Loan will be #5 seed. The winner of the App-Furman series this weekend will be #6 seed and the loser will fall back into Play-In game scenario for #7 thru #10 seeds CitDogs will be #10 and play the App-Furman loser who will be #7 seed. Wofford will be #8 and play UNC-G who will be #9 seed.

Right now, there is a three way tie for 6th place.
Furman, Wofford, and ASU all sit 10-13 in conference play. Does anyone know the tie breaker rule?
Furman won 2 over Wofford, and hasn't played ASU ASU has 2 wins over Wofford, hasn't played Furman Wofford has 2 loses to Furman, and 2 losses to ASU

Yes, current 3-way logjam for #6. A 3 way tie is broken by the total W-L record of each team vs. the other two teams. Wofford can't compete on the tiebreaker, so I didn't even factor them in. #6 seed will be the winner of App-Furman series this coming weekend.
Wofford will lose at least 2 to Samford this coming weekend, so they won't even be able to hold #7 seed. They will drop to #8.

Given our current situation and RPI (60), is there any scenario that gets us into the NCAA with out winning the automatic by winning the SoCon tournament?
Would beating KSU and sweeping KSU, as well as, going deep into the tournament do it?
KSU's RPI is 72 and Davidson stands at 90. Would sweeping them even lower our RPI?

I'm working on this weeks tourney report and will turn in tonight. But without getting into the numbers NO. While can get in range our overall resume does not stand up to other teams in hunt. If finish 4-0 and go 3-2 in tourney maybe but don't expect it. Need to play more games vs atleast top 100 and win some. Right now only 4-8 vs top 100 and I don't have to tell you you won't at large going 8-8 vs top 100 unless 8 wins vs top 25 or even 50

I don't believe the SoCon is a 2-bid league this year. Only 3 teams even hit 30 wins overall. And Davidson ain't one of them....
We're in a position where we MUST win the tournament. Hate to say it, but that's where we are, IMO.

If you didnt believe my earlier post maybe this game will answer any doubts. We wont be in the last 20 out now OK negative= positive So we suck and will get swept by Davidson But like SCCat said the league will only be a one bid league. When SoCon was getting 2-4 teams it was the 7th, 8th or 9th ranked league and now 12th. And its not going to get better any time soon. So the only thing can do is load schedules up in years to come.

Several folks at last night's game said it is supposed to rain all day Thursday but clear up late Thursday afternoon. The total rain accumulation during the day is not supposed to exceed 1 inch, so the OF should be able to handle the moisture and be playable.
The games vs. Davidson MUST be completed by the end of the day on Friday. Davidson graduation is Saturday and they've got to be back to campus. So if Thursday's game is washed out, then we will only be able to play the DH on Friday. Friday's forecast is very good.
We MUST have 2 wins vs. Davidson to take 1st place. Obviously, we want to play 3 games rather than 2 games.
If you are a praying person and a loyal Catamount fan, please pray that the rain will get on out as early as possible on Thursday so we can play baseball in Cullowhee on Thursday evening.

So if Thursday's game is washed out, then we will only be able to play the DH on Friday. Why is this so important that we'd schedule a Thursday game and a double header on Friday, just so Davidson can be back for graduation? If my memory serves me correctly, Western Carolina's graduation(s) were on Friday May 9th and Saturday May 10th, while the WCU baseball team played a three game series at Georgia Southern. Is Davidson's graduation that much more important than Western Carolina's? It must be.
