Furman vs. Western CarolinaGAME 54 | MAY 21 | 1:00 PM ETCharleston, SC | Joseph P. Riley, Jr. ParkCatamount Sports Network | Live Video (free) | Live Stats
The Paladins beat UNCG by a final score of 6-5 in 11 innings Tuesday, in their play-in game in the Southern Conference Baseball Tournament. Both the Spartans and Paladins had 15 hits in the game, but the determining factor was the four errors committed by the Spartans, with two of those errors in the bottom of the 11th. Furman enter's Wednesday's game 24-31 overall and 11-15 in the SoCon. In road games this season, the Paladins are 11-13 and they are 3-2 in games on neutral fields. Furman is 6-4 in their last 10 games. If you'll recall, the Paladins took two games from the Cats in Cullowhee back in early March, winning games 2 & 3 of the series. Bradley Strong put up four hits and drove in two runs as the Cats rode the eight strikeout performance by starter Jeremy Null as the Cats won game one, 5-4. In game #2, Furman scored three unearned runs with two outs in the top of the ninth inning as the Cats dropped game two, 9-6. In game three, a strong eight-inning pitching effort by Furman's Tyler Wood limited the offensive by the Catamounts, as Furman won the rubber match by a final score of 6-1.

Does this furman matchup have anybody else a little un easy? I wasn't at the games played earlier this year between them, but I know they had solid pitching and beat us twice. We're the previous games just a poor outing by our cats, or is there something about this team that gives he cats problems?

Should the Cats win today, they will face ASU tomorrow in the winner's bracket. Should they lose, they will face Georgia Southern in the loser's bracket.

The Cats start the game off with back to back errors on the pitcher, one a fielding error, the second a throwing error. No outs with a man on third base.

The error bug is back for the Catamounts, in two innings, they have committed 3 errors. Not a good start for Smith or the Catamounts. Down 1-0.

Shades of 2013, only this time the Cats lose their first game. Now we play the other team that took a series from us. Watch that RPI shoot up now. Losing to a team that had to win a play in game, then face the number one seed. (RPI shot up to 50, was 41 this morning). Furman pitching shuts down Catamounts
