Kansas City Royals closer Greg Holland is on a roll that could lead him to another appearance in the MLB All-Star game next month. The former McDowell and Western Carolina standout has eight saves in his last nine games and didn’t allow a run in those appearances, during which he struck out 12 batters in 8 2-3 innings. Holland, 28, has successfully converted 15 of 16 save opportunities this season despite playing on one of the least-potent teams in the majors (25th in runs scored, last in home runs). He made the American League All-Star team last season when he converted 47 of 50 save tries, giving him 62 of 66 in the last two years. www.citizen-times.com/story/sports/2014/06/02/holland-heading-another-star-game/9891307/
