Was glad to be able to attend the Friday and Saturday games. Not in a TV area to be able to watch today's game, so GT was all I had.
Too many walks. Many different pitchers gave up more walks than they had K's. Not good at any level of baseball. Wofford had runners in scoring position many, many innings due to BB's and HBP's. Keeps pressure on your defense and means they have to be perfect on every fielding play.
Glad we were able to cool Wofford down a bit. Bryan Sammons and Korey Anderson both gave up early runs Saturday and Sunday but were able to keep the horse in the barn and not let the game get away. B J Nobles had a great outing going on Friday until the wheels ran off in the 7th inning. And it was nearly impossible to stop the hemorrhaging that inning.
Coach Mo pieced the pitching together pretty good this weekend. However, multiple innings for Tyler Powell concerns me. Wonder what his arm is going to look like come tournament time if he keeps pitching 2+ to 4 innings per outing?
We don't have an abundance of long-ball threats in the lineup but we can score some runs. Amazing how many 8 run innings we can put together.
Hope Jacob Hoyle has not re-injured the right hand seriously. He came back from a month lay-off swinging very effectively. Sure hope he won't be on the bench for another month...
I plan to send an e-mail to the Wofford coach about his class-less, foul-mouth pitcher who pitched the last inning on Friday. No excuse for turning to the opposing dugout and cursing after getting the last out. Don't know if their coach was in a position to see or hear it, since he would have been in the 1B dugout during our time at bat.
Hope the weather cooperates this week and we get to play Tennessee on Tuesday.
Huge series AT MERCER next weekend. Will be a major challenge. We haven't played that well on the road this year so far. After this weekend, Mercer is 7-2 in the SoCon and we are tied with Sammy with 6-3.
Go Cats!
