Interesting info. Thanks!
One thing that is clear to me is looking at the SoCon winners since 2003, we have the most total championships at six between regular season and tournament - including the regular season in 2013 and 2014. It sticks in my craw that after 13 weekends, one bad weekend keeps us out of the NCAA regionals....

Well when you know you have to win some games and your the #1 seed you can not go 0-2 in your conference tourney and hope to still get a bid. Especially when your conference is not very strong. But it really was not one bad weekend. It was a weak schedule or lack of quality wins. The SoCon in not what it used to be baseball wise with no CofC, Elon, GSU and yes App St. The only way your going to get an atlarge right now from the SoCon is to play a schedule like we are this season. After the regular season it is not too awfully difficult to see who will get in and who will not by looking at resume's. In 2013 we were one of next 2 or 3 but in 2014 we were not even in next 10. I wanted to put Garrett Brown on 2nd team all conference but changed my mind at last minute.

We left a LOT of runners stranded late, and the pitching blew up in the 5th. If you take away the 10 run 5th inning, and we score a few who were on base, it's a different game. But that's why we play 9 innings. However, with weak back end pitching by the Seahawks, we still only had 4 hits. The other thing that worries me was we had FIVE errors. Now let's go get the next two teams this weekend! GO CATS!

We had a couple of bright spots with our pitchers this weekend, despite getting blown out twice. 1) Bryan Sammons gave us 7 solid innings on Saturday and left with the score tied 1-1. 2) FR RHP Michael Davis looked good in one inning on Friday.
We are not healthy... Matt Smith and Kramer Ferrell are nursing tender handstrings. Reece Strong (3B) has some arm trouble. JD Long's (SS) arm strength is not fully back yet from last year's surgery. He seems to be laboring on most throws across the diamond.
But yet, we started out best infielder (with the strongest arm) in LF today. (??) Someone needs to help me understand that.
We seem to be trying to put it over the fence on every swing instead of putting it into play. Is this the philosophy of the new coaches? I have no idea.
Not an encouraging start for baseball so far.

I am hoping we are better than the record indicates, and that there may be adjustments with the new coaches and all. But it appears that even though our hitting improved A LOT this weekend, we are still struggling with pitching and fielding. Six errors in 3 games this weekend and six errors last weekend. Bermudez' throwing has been off, and we are not making plays we would have in the past. I don't think it's panic time, but I am concerned about a dismal start.

Ive watched part of 3 games on video and asked someone who was at games this weekend if we played as bad as it looked on video. And the report was not good. I will get to do the eye test on Friday.

NEED ALAN BECK BACK! No one on the coaching staff has a clue what it takes to be a CAT!
