I was in Athens last night and it was not pretty. I didn't see much fire in the eyes of our players... and it showed on the scoreboard.
Will we get swept at home this weekend by UNCG? Sure hope not, but it is very possible. I will be surprised if we win more than one game this weekend.
I hope our trip to Ohio is as successful as our trip to Kansas. However, I fail to see a single game left on our schedule that we will be favored to win. And I include in that the SoCon tournament.
As most of you on this board know, I am one of the biggest "Cats with Bats" fans and have been for many years. But I am about as discouraged as I have been in many years. I am skipping the SoCon tournament for the first time in nearly 20 years.

Don't give up just yet. The way I see it, a sweep of UNCG = Socon Championship. The fat lady isn't even warming up yet

I missed my first SoCon tourney since 97 last year Im sick of going to the tourney and watch us go 2 and BBQ. In 2014 i got pissed and drove home in middle of night. In 2013 i also got pissed and left. Even with NCAA tourney spot on line we didnt show up in either year. If we end up #4 or #5 ill probably miss this year too because the 4/5 game is at 9:30

Don't give up just yet. The way I see it, a sweep of UNCG = Socon Championship. The fat lady isn't even warming up yet Excellent effort today resulted in an 8-5 win. I congratulate the team. The Bull put one over the batter's eye wall in dead CF with 2 on base to break a 4-4 tie. But you've got to consider today an upset due to the fact that UNCG is favored for each game this weekend. But even if we, by some stretch of the imagination, were to sweep Greensboro, that does not automatically put us in 1st place for the regular season. Mercer is still in a favored position for 1st place and can take care of business next weekend vs. UNCG. And someone please tell me what winning the regular season Championship does for us.... except to be able to post another year on the wall in the LF corner. Nothing in the RF corner. In 2013 and 2014, it meant absolutely nothing when we got put out quickly in the tournament. And this year, it will mean even less because we have a .500 overall record.

I looked at it earlier this week, and if my calculations are correct, the only way to take the SoCon regular season title at this point is to sweep UNC-Girls, and have Mercer take ONLY 2 out of 3 against them next week. Otherwise Mercer or UNCG wins. Am I wrong?

Otherwise Mercer or UNCG wins. Am I wrong? Yes you are correct...(Opps yup we would have needed UNCG to win 2 of 3) We split the two games then the winner of the UNCG vs Mercer series wins regular season. Like my buddy SCCat said, winning the regular season does not mean anything. It would mean a little if we were in position for atlarge but we lost any outside chance of that when lost 2 of 3 at Citadel. We have clinched top 4 seed because we have the tiebreaker with all the teams that currently have 10 losses (Wofford 10-10, ETSU 10-10, Samford 9-10)right now. Furman (10-9) loses 2 of their final 5 games, (2) vs VMI and (3) vs Wofford we clinch top 3 seed no matter what happens in the final two games vs UNCG. Finish WCU UNCG Mercer
2-0 16-8 13-8 14-7
1-1 15-9 14-7 14-7
0-2 14-10 15-6 14-7 Now if a game gets rained out that will throw all that out

I was wrong. If we win tomorrow, Greensboro needs to take two from Mercer - not the other way around. That would give each of them 15-9 records and we would have 16-8. I can dream, can't I?

We "opened up a can" on Greensboro today, no doubt. 8 HR's is pretty awesome. With lots of folks on base... Thanks to Greensboro getting one of those pitching performances we have done often this year.... giving up 10 walks and 2 HBP's....
Young Andrew Bullock is showing himself to be the Baseball Crusher he was reported to be when he signed to become a Catamount.
I guess SR Weekend might be having an emotional advantage in our favor. We'll see what tomorrow brings. We've got lots of fresh arms, since we have not used but 4 pitchers Fri & Sat. combined. It was very refreshing to see Taylor Durand throwing strikes and having 3 decent innings.
