- A combined 58 golfers representing 10 different programs descend upon the mountains of Western North Carolina as the Catamount men's golf team and the Country Club of Sapphire Valley are once again set to play host to the 2016 Hummingbird Intercollegiate. The two-round, 36-hole intercollegiate tournament is scheduled Oct. 31 through Nov. 1 with a practice round on Oct. 30 as the golfers will again play one of the region's most pristine courses during the special time of year that has the mountainous terrain painted with the hues of autumn. This season marks the 10th-consecutive year -- and the 11th time overall -- that WCU and the Country Club of Sapphire Valley (CCSV) have hosted an intercollegiate men's golf tournament. www.catamountsports.com/sports/m-golf/spec-rel/102716aab.html

Western Carolina has three men's golfers ranked inside the individual top 10 overall including co-leaders in juniors Jackson Bishop and Dylan MacQueen to lead its home tournament, the Hummingbird Intercollegiate, being contested at the beautiful par-71, 6,767-yard Country Club of Sapphire Valley (CCSV). Teams played under perfect conditions with sunny skies and unseasonably mild conditions, surrounded by the hues of autumn on the mountain valley course. The final round of the Hummingbird Intercollegiate is scheduled for Tuesday morning with tee times off both the front and back nine beginning at 9:30 am with 10-minute increments. WCU will again be paired with golfers from EKU and Elon, teeing off at 10:20 am. The two Catamount individuals will tee-off on the back nine at 10:05 and 10:15 am, respectively. www.catamountsports.com/sports/m-golf/recaps/103116aaa.html
