There were no bad hop errors. Errors were made all over the field from catcher to OF, 7 to be exact not counting the passed balls and a balk. Pitching wasn't very good either We gave up 7 walks and 4 hit batters. My math may not always be good but with all of that you are looking at 18 free bags. Unless your pitcher is throwing a no hitter will you have a chance to win with those numbers alone. I do agree with letting Holcomb get a break from catching (it was LONG overdue). But why not Sparks or Robinson? We had 2 catcher interference's and a couple or more passed balls. That shouldn't be that bad no matter if you play SEC, ACC, or MEAC. I thought there were other errors not recorded on plays that they gave hits on IMO. But everyone on here calling for a change in the lineup, got it so can't bash coach for that lol. I personally think we are not far away from putting some things together once we get a little more consistent. I'm not throwing in the towel this quick and I'm sure I will get some smart alack comments on it but I'm going to stay positive.

This is just tough to stomach. I've seen WCU baseball have some down or rebuilding years in the past, but this season just blows my mind. We've always been able to count on baseball's consistency and legitimacy to beat any team they take the field against. Unless something changes real quick I don't get the feeling that will happen for perhaps a long, long time.
Wish I could be more hopeful, but I've had my doubts for a long time now about the direction we were heading, and I'm worried.

Okay. There were some bright spots. Cappell hasn’t caught a competitive game since July 2017. He was 2-4 at plate. The rust will come off. Glad Coach spelled Spencer. We also learned a little about where people won’t and shouldn’t play. And we learned that Luke Robinson can throw a pretty good breaking pitch.
Hopefully, Mo will realize who doesn’t need to play certain positions and by process of elimination, put people in the right positions.
Maybe there is a method to the current madness.
I still say you won the game at Citadel. Why did you change the lineup and go back to errors after that? There was obviously better chemistry.

The fall is used to get the rust off, not midway through the season. We are 3-20 - worst start in history. I stand by my observations during the Kent State series- players walking to their positions, not knowing how many outs there are, etc. BAD BASEBALL. This stuff is team culture and it starts at the top.

It seems to be pretty evident that there are favorites who aren’t necessarily the best players but play anyway. Then there are the players who see limited field time not because of lack of ability but because they are not favorites so they are on a very short leash. It makes me think the coaches want those guys to fail to make the others stand out more. There is a lot of talent on the team. Just not being utilized correctly. That starts with guidance in helping the players develop ( not tearing them down) and organization on the coaches end..

Plenty to be disappointed with but I’m sure no one is more disappointed than the coaches and players. Before criticizing a coach or player you may want to get all the facts. For example, Capell spent the fall in a back brace and missed all of fall workouts. I’m sure the players would appreciate an email, kind word, pat on the back. They are struggling now and need support. We may not like or agree with the decisions being made by the coach but the players are not trying to lose!!

I agree 100% with the catastrophe. I am going to tell the future lineup like my famous relative - Nostradamus.
No real changes boys. Mo will move Bigbie anywhere in the field where someone isn't hitting to keep his bat in the lineup. But, everything else will stay the same and the people on the bench that should be playing, will be relegated to ninth inning pinch hit duty where they will be placed in a position to fail to cover up the fact that the lineup is just littered with favorites. It's just wrong.
If I was on the bench on this team, I can't say I wouldn't be looking to transfer. EVERYONE SEES IT. WHY DOESN'T MO? Or, maybe he does...

I agree with Slugger. The players are not trying to lose. Nor do I think the coaches want to lose either. However, I also agree with catastrophe. At some point, others need to be given a chance. Take pitching for instance. How are the pitchers who sit on the bench ever going to get better or contribute if not given more of an opportunity to play? One inning here or there does not help one to improve or build confidence. Yes, the players need encouragement from fans and peers. They ALlL also need it from their coaches. They are all good players who have been given a great opportunity and deserve accolades for putting in the time and effort it takes to be a student athlete.

Cat man don't -- he has it right.
As a father of a player, I know it is tough to be a Division 1 College athlete. But, to put all that work in and not see results has to be disheartening. I know every kid on that team is trying to win. I also know that it has to be tough for those who don't get the opportunities that others get to continue the grind every day. The coaches extended an offer for everyone on the team to play, or they otherwise earned a spot. They need be encouraged and rewarded for their hard work.
I agree with many posts on this Board and enjoy the humor. This is a place to talk Catamount Baseball and I hope that everything will get figured out so we can start doing that. Until then, I will continue to read and enjoy the humor.
Am I happy with the way things are going? Absolutely not. Do I think the lineup is what is should be? Certainly not. Do I think the kids on the pine deserve a better shot to prove themselves? Sure. But, no matter who the coaches run out there, let's support the guys the best we can. They know that everyone doesn't get a trophy at this level, but they deserve our admiration and respect.
Now let's maul the terriers!
