Bo needs no participation trophy. I was simply pointing out the fact that over the past several weeks, the team has looked better. True, they haven't found the win column, but you cannot deny that they have looked better and the pitching has improved.
And, the season is not over. It is a tournament conference.
I haven't given up. You do what you want. The point I am trying to relay to you is this season in no way represents the Catamount Baseball Program. All the new players on this team needs to be apologized to by Coach Mo. I have never seen Coach Mo coach this way and I have never seen him play players out of position or show favoritism. I’m just baffled by his actions this season. I hate to see the young players having to endure this fiasco

Getting Better? BigBaseball you do realize we are 3-27?? Nothing has changed. Same outcome, same lineup, same production, same ole Coach. -------------------- Yep, I edited it. Criticism is ok, you know what's not..... -Admin Jerry, why is there an option at the bottom of all my posts labeled (Moderate)? Jerry, Do you not realize that we have young men in the military that are putting their lives on the line everyday for this country and they are in the same age group as the players on the Catamount Baseball Team. It is time for these players to grow up & take criticism for their poor play on the Catamount Baseball Field. The Baseball Game is the PLAYERS. If some of us that have been a Baseball Player for the Catamounts get a little heated about the team this year, I hope you would understand it. This team or the coaching staff does not represent the history of this program or the past players that have made WCU a respected program in the Baseball World. I think the Starting Pitching is getting better but the favoritism for several of the poor performing players is a slap in the face to every young player sitting on the bench. I would hope that you would recognize that & not apply censorship to some of us that identifies the issues that have brought about a 3-27 record. I know that Dads are sensitive on this board & anything related to their sons automatically brings up the protective shield & attack mode. I guess with this group of players we will have to give them participation trophies & provide them safe spaces to prevent them from getting hurt feelings. Jim, I am totally for the free flow of information on this board, however, I will not allow players or coaches to be singled out and called derogatory names - if that is censorship in your view, then I'm guilty. --------- From the "terms of service" to participate on this board- 3. Attacks on WCU players, coaches, faculty/staff members or employees won't be tolerated. Criticism is fair. Discussion of published & verified news reports is fair. Posting unfounded or unverified rumors should be confined to the Members Only board. --------- I give lots of room when posting about coaches; and criticism of a coach is fair when a team is not performing. However, I must draw the line at calling the coach a derogatory name. Dads on the board or former players on this board have no bearing on the forum "terms of service" and enforcement of the rules. Everyone that posts on this board has an opinion, and I try to be respectful of those opinions. I want everyone to feel free to post their opinions here, we are not all going to agree. Again I don't censor opinions. I do however disagree with your statement about participation trophies and safe spaces, but if that's how you feel, that's your opinion and it's there for all to read.

I believe you can count on your fingers the number of people who have followed Catamount baseball more closely than I have over the past 25 years. Especially considering the distance I live from Cullowhee.
I have not made a game this year due to knee replacement 8 weeks ago today. (A blessing, I guess.) I have followed the team as closely as I can, given the lack of SDN video for many home games so far.
BigBaseball's assessment of the pitching is 100% right, IMO. We are getting a much better pitching effort than I had ever expected pre-season. Losing Brendan Nail's SR year was a blow I was not expecting us to overcome. Baker, Purus, Franklin, Therrian and Walter are pitching their hearts out. (There needs to be more folks contributing to the pitching effort if we are going to have any success in the tournament.)
The gross amount of errors being committed early has been brought under control after the number of people being tried in foreign positions has slacked off.
THE PROBLEM IS AT THE PLATE. Thirteen games between home runs? (March 10 to April 6) Unheard-of for Catamount Baseball! 30 games... 15 HR's. Weak. Any other year, we average about 1 per game for the season.
The base hits we get are, for the most part, bouncers that find a hole in the infield. Not screaming line drives that put a dent in the outfield wall. Or ropes down into the corners. Not "no-doubters" when they leave the plate. We are not making consistent good contact.
3 games vs. Greensboro. 8 runs total. No college team can win scoring 8 runs in 3 games! You've got to be almost pitching shutouts!
I do blame Coach Mo for not giving more people more AB's and playing time to see who can start hitting.
But I have not given up on this team either... I believe we will win some games and be a spoiler for some folks in the tournament.

I do not have access to the members only board. The Coaches & the players are the game of Baseball. What they do during the game determines the outcome of the game. We are 3-27 & that record is a direct responsibility of the players & the coaches. If you censor the comments about the Coaches & the Players, you can only speak in generalities & restrict comments to explain why this team is 3-27. I disagree with nothing that Mr Roland has written. He was a great Catamount Player & I enjoyed watching him play for the Cats. The rules about coaches & players is like a gag order to me. You seem to want a group of cheerleaders on this board & little to no attention to reality. Bye

Guys it really should go without saying. At the Division 1 level its about winning. Its no longer about just having fun like Mommy and Daddy tell their little babies. That being said, Coach Mo should be coaching like a D1 coach and not holding on to his wishes of whom he thinks should be playing. Stats do not lie. Stats are kept to help the coach assess production which attributes to wins. At 3-27 you better believe everyone should have been given a fair chance when guys are making errors, not hitting and pitchers are walking and hitting batters right and left. At 3-27 when you have guys with less than 15 AB's, and those being in the 9th inning of a hopeless cause, the Coach is not doing his job, period! That is not an opinion, STATS DO NOT LIE! If those whom are not producing are replaced and their replacements do not pan out, then Coach you have done your job and you better start rebuilding quickly!!! No player at this level should be on a team that is Coached showing favoritism. STATS DO NOT LIE! Do your your job and do it well or you are going to be replaced. It should go without saying at this level.

The hitting on this team is atrocious except for a couple of players. I to think the pitching has improved & the errors are not happening as frequent as they were earlier in the season. However, I have never seen a Catamount Baseball Team this weak or being Coached this poorly since my many years of following the Baseball Program. Coach Mo has not been a bad coach but this season has baffled me. The biggest negative about Coach Mo has been his performance in the SoCon Tourney over the years.
