What is wrong with Coach Mo? Too far removed from the situation. I haven't been talking to the folks who know and with respect to confidentiality, I don't usually share if that happens. The dads are better qualified to discuss.

I haven't been talking to the folks who know and with respect to confidentiality, I don't usually share if that happens. The dads are better qualified to discuss. Except for a few Dads in Football, I pay little attention to Dads. I think most of their remarks are based on emotions & to a certain extent they are totally wrapped up in their sons to be objective. You are one of the most positive men on this board & I thoroughly look forward to your opinions & knowledge of WCU Sports. However, I see about 4 players getting preferential treatment on this team & not performing well enough to be in the lineup on a daily basis. I have been supportive of the Baseball Program for over 50 years & have never been ashamed of the Program until now. No Program at WCU has beaten the number of Power 5 Conference Teams as the WCU Baseball Program. I really feel bad for the new players & parents of the new players to have to endure the nonsense that is going on this season. I’ve been negative at times against Coach Speir & Coach Hunter. However, I have been supportive of Coach Mo except for some of his Coaching Performances in the SoCon Tourney. For whatever reason, Coach Mo is running this team like a third rate coach. He is not running the program the same way as the 3 previous outstanding coaches at WCU. Western’s Baseball Program has been known as a Program that reloads each season instead of rebuilding the program each year. Western was always a threat to win the regular season championship or the SoCon Tourney. Now the fans & other folks outside of Cullowhee are asking what has happened to the once proud baseball tradition at WCU.

This just in . . . . a shocker! Ditto for Game 2. The lineup is set for the season. What you see is what you get.

Funny.
In response to objectivity of baseball dads, I disagree. We may be harder on our kids than the coaches are.
I'm all for sitting my kid when he isn't producing. And granted, one hit affects his batting average by 20 or 30 points because of the number of at bats her actually has at this point. But if he's not performing, he needs to be on the bench in favor of those that are.

Now the fans & other folks outside of Cullowhee are asking what has happened to the once proud baseball tradition at WCU. As you know, I'm a glass half full kind of guy. I think that's because I am in sales and always looking forward to the next sale/accomplishment/goal achieved. That being said - two years ago the football team finished 2-9. Some were predicting the failure of Speir and that the previous two years were an anomaly. Turned out to be some bad chemistry that was quickly fixed. As I've already said, I'm not sure what the problem is here, but Mo has kept the tradition of winning at WCU Baseball - although some may argue not as strong as a couple of his predecessors. I'm thinking this season is an anomaly as well due to the fact that we have about 60% of the team we had last year. Not sure what needs to be done to turn it around, but hopefully it will get figured out, either by the coaches or the administration.

But if he's not performing, he needs to be on the bench in favor of those that are. If your kid is a new player on the team, I’m not posting about the new players. It is the upperclassmen that are being unfairly played over players like your son. All you have to do is bring up one of the non producing players name & you’ll get called names or you’ll be attacked on here. You do not have to be a Harvard Graduate to figure out who are the players on this team that I’m talking about. Look at the Stats and ask yourself why certain players with batting averages under 200 are still in the daily lineup. Why would you have a player batting at the top of the lineup and hitting in the 180s against Kentucky? This same player took two curveball strikes right down the middle of the plate & struck out to end the game. Somehow, Coach Mo is not holding some of his players accountable. However, the problem is not the players. It is the Coach that makes out the lineup.
