Mo wants a bunch of "yes men" any player or coach that challenges his thoughts or decisions will be out the door. I have seen this first hand with both players and coaches when I played under him. Maybe his ego is too big or too fragile to handle anyone that doesn't agree with 100% of his philosophies.
It's his way or the highway and don't you dare question his way. This could be why there are guys on the bench not getting opportunities. They have to be on the same page as Mo otherwise they will get black balled until the player in front of them either gets injured or has played so bad for so long that he has no other choice but to play them.
Finally, as a former college baseball coach and select coach in the area, I can honestly say that Bobby Mo does not have the greatest reputation among his peers and is often called a "used car salesman". He sells players on the Oakleys, the gloves, the fans, his rings at Georgia Tech, his impeccable snow skiing skills, all of the players that he "made" into professional baseball players (a good percentage of them at WCU have been walk-ons that he didn't recruit) and so on and so forth. Don't get it twisted Mo is not a Catamount he has been wanting out since he got to Cullowhee and has applied for numerous head coaching jobs, but no major University wants him. Eventually you have to ask yourself, Why couldn't he get a big time coaching job after some of the great seasons he has had? After all, every other coach that came through WCU and had seasons like he had were able to land somewhere. why not him? (it's not because he bleeds purple & gold)
But hey he has had a pretty successful career, so I'll tip my hat to the guy. Maybe Beck will be back at his Alma Mater. I'm amazed at the lack of loyalty you display to your former head coach. It must have taken a lot in internal fortitude to come on-line and post the above as a guest. Had you at least posted your name at the bottom of your expose, I could have respected your willingness to accept responsibility for the hatchet job you performed on your former coach. It makes me wonder how you were about to obtain a "college baseball coaching and select coach position" without a recommendation from your former college baseball head coach? If what you posted is true, you should be having conversations with the athletic director, not posting anonymously on a message board. Of course there are those that will take your post at face values and run with it, I however do not.

Going to the AD will fall on deaf ears. I know some who have emailed the AD only to have the AD ignore them and not reply.

Baseball Alum, you spoke the truth & true to form on this board you get attacked. Does anyone ever remember when Coach Mo was hired & the discussion about his resume. He was a Coach at the following institutions, Wake Forest, Virginia, Georgia Tech & had many years of experience at these Universities. However, he was never hired as a Head Coach until WCU. A number of people wondered why he had not been hired. Mr Roland, Baseball Alum, and I played Baseball for the Catamounts. I will tell you to watch what you say on this board. I have WCU Grads that I have been friends with for over 50 years & they will not speak to me because of this board. The guy that jumped on you reminds me of some of the people that use to be my friends. You have a large number of people on this board that will not tolerate any negative comments that are factual. I would hate to see you and Mr Roland blacklisted like I have been within the last two years. The guy that runs this board is a good man & he keeps most of us in line. I had one son to attend the University of Tennessee & the SEC Boards are brutal on Coaches & Players in that Conference. If some people on this board had to read SEC Type Comments on this board, we would have people having massive heart attacks.

I've read your posts since you started posting here, using a couple of other names, james whatever. Since I have no reason to disbelieve you, I think you are a little old to have played for Coach Mo. But, Baseball Alum stated he played for Moranda, so I think my criticism of him is fair. He posted as a guest, and did not state an opinions, he posted what he constituted as " facts". If you are going to say those things as "facts" about the head coach, be a man, state your name for the world to know who's making these statements of fact. If Alum were posting opinions, I would not have typed anything about him. BUT he posted what he said were facts about Coach Moranda. I say doing that on a message board, and doing it anonymously is real disloyalty to the man you played the sport for. If you want to take whatever Alum said as validation of your opinions, that's fine. But I don't accept things like that said from someone that hides their identity.

If you want to take whatever Alum said as validation of your opinions, that's fine. But I don't accept things like that said from someone that hides their identity. No I did not play for Coach Mo. When I became aware of some of the comments about Coach Mo that Baseball Alum made in his post occurred several years ago. I was going to games in Cullowhee as well as on the road. That year several key pitchers on the team came down with arm trouble. Coach Mo was doubling as the Head Coach & Pitching Coach. He was trying to change the throwing motion of the pitchers & wound up with arm troubles. I ask the parents & some of the players what was going on. That is when I started hearing some of the same comments that Baseball Alum alluded to in his post. I never said anything about it because I respected Coach Mo at that time. I have never heard those comments again until today. If we all used our names instead of alias names, you would not get a lot of good discussion on both sides of an issue. The Athletic Director does not handle criticism very well & the Athletics in general at WCU do not want anything negative said about the Sport Programs in Cullowhee. I have read very little that you have posted. I have no idea why you want to read my posts. The way you snapped back at Baseball Alum makes me think you might be in the Athletic Department. By the way, I can not believe any former Catamount Baseball Player would get on this board and make untrue statements. I think you can see this stubbornness in Coach Mo by the way he has played this years ball players. You have to admit that the won/loss record indicates something is very bad wrong with the Baseball Program this season. Like all Programs it starts at the top & the top is Bobby Moranda. By the way, don’t complain about people on this board not using their names when you don’t use your name. The reason that I have used several logins is because I have had trouble in the past with this board not accepting my logins. I therefore had to change my login in order to participate on this board.
