I sure hope that Greg’s agent has not destroyed his Major League Career because the Cardinals are not happy with him at all. Not participating in Spring Training has done a number on Greg. What do others think about Greg holding out for more money & not participating in Spring Training?

If you get a chance to play, you play. Contracts work themselves out.

Greg got in the Cardinal's game last night vs. Atlanta. 8th inning. Nothing critical. Issue pretty much decided with Atlanta leading 4-1 with runners scoring position; one out. Cards brought in Greg. He gave up a single to the first batter (one run scored) and then struck out the next two.
Cardinals pinch-hit for Holland in the bottom of the 8th so his night was over. Final score 5-1.
Greg was on the DL from 5/26/2018 to 6/19/2018 with a hip impingement. Last night was his 5th appearance since coming back and he has been very effective in those 5 appearances. 4.2 innings total. 2 hits allowed. 0 runs. 0 BB's. 7 K's.
Since the Cardinals continue to struggle in the bullpen, I expect to see Greg being used in some critical "Save" situations again soon. Before he went on the DL, Mike Matheny had lost confidence him in that role.
Go Greg! Continue to represent WCU well...

He got designated for assignment so he done with Cardinals. To say that Greg Holland has been terrible this season for the Cardinals would be an under statement. He may have ended his professional career. He let his agent talk him into holding out for more money & no Team was willing to pay him his asking price. He reported to the Cardinals & was not ready to pitch in the ML. What a sorry way to possibly ending a successful Major League Career.

Tied for the NL lead in Saves for the 2017 season with Kenly Jansen of the Dodgers... 41.
Rockies offered $17M for 2018. Greg's agent (and Greg apparently agreed to) turn it down with the expectation of some better offer. Did not happen. Settled for $12M with the Cardinals on Opening Day (plus/minus a day) and lost the benefit of all of Spring Training.
So unfortunate... I believe Greg could have stayed in the majors 3-4 more years. Highly unlikely that he will catch on with another team to finish this year.

I’m afraid ML Teams will not take a chance on him anymore. You are also right about him not participating in Spring Training.

Doubt if any team will sign him and put him on their ML roster at this point in the season.
Some team (a cellar-dwelling team who needs to rebuild) may offer him "a minor league contract" this week and, if Greg accepts it then they would assign him to their High-A or AA team and let him work on getting his mechanics (or whatever the problem is) straightened out the rest of the season. If that is successful, then they would invite him to Spring Training next year and see how things go there.
Otherwise, his baseball career is over and he can get on with the rest of his life. There IS life after baseball, you know...

There IS life after baseball, you know... I think he might have a few more good years and you are absolutely right that he might get a Minor League contract offer because although he has struggled and came back from Tommy John surgery, he is somewhat of a known quantity and some team might take a chance on him to see if it works out. I hope he gets to pitch a couple more years, but although he could have made more, he should have enough cash to live comfortably for the rest of his life. Maybe coach Mo will hire him as our pitching coach if things don't work out. :-)
